Took a while on the bus to get into Lugo from the hotel.

The staff were friendly, the facilities were good and the cafeteria served food until late in the evening. Breakfast was good. Free parking right outside.

The gym. It did not have air conditioning and being on the top floor made me only want to spend a minimum of time in it.

The staff were helpful and service in the restaurant and bar was good. The menu del dia was good value.

There was absolutely nothing to do outside the hotel ie nowhere to walk to. There is a shop next door but it was a Sunday so closed. The WiFi constantly cut out in the room but was fine downstairs.

The room was comfortable and hotel clean and modern. The meal in the restaurant was lovely in the evening and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast in the restaurant too pricey so we opted for the cheaper ‘cafe ‘ opposite (in the hotel) which was fine and reasonably priced.

My mother and I stayed here last week. We were bitterly disappointed with every aspect of the hotel and the service. Among other things, the website and booking confirmation promised a spa, a covered smoking area, a disco night, and various other things. Firstly, Despite the hotel in fact being called 'Hotel Santiago Spa', the facilities are a complete joke. There is a small hot tub, with cold and dirty water, and a sauna which is 4 floors further up. Making it necessary to get dry and dressed before going. There is also a covered pool, also tepid water, with no hot shower. The pool is apart from the hotel, requiring guests to run through the March rain and wind in a towel. There is also no sufficient and secure storage space for clothes and other items. Secondly, the 'covered smoking area is in fact a an old gazebo, almost totally exposed to the weather and with no light, natural or otherwise. This was also the location of the Latin disco, which although still advertised, has apparently not been offered for over two years. The beds were also uncomfortable, with extremely thin duvets, and no spare bedding. We had to sleep with extra clothes on. Suffice to say that I feel hugely disappointed with the hotel, and it's staff who were very unhelpful about the problems. I will be making an official complaint to the local authority and expect a partial, if not a full refund. I would also like an apology from the hotel

There were no dressing gowns, which means getting dressed after the spa, going back to the room and getting undressed again before having a shower, we've never been to a spa with this set up before. It's also worth noting that the restaurant is closed for lunch on Sundays and public holidays.

The covered outdoor heated pool was lovely.

Location: there is really nothing nearby (bars, restaurants, sights). But the bus stop is 50m away so it's not bad getting into town.

Average hotel, but listen: the food is INCREDIBLE from the average looking hotel restaurant! I have no idea who they have in their kitchen but seriously, works of art came out of it. The crema sopa: stunning. Pulpo de gallega: best 'Ive had in Spain and I'm not kidding. All of it was so good. Amazing food!

Would not recommend - overpriced, inconvenient, rude staff and undercooked food

This was one of my worst experiences in my 5 weeks in Spain. The facilities are disappointing and only open at odd times (if you like to exercise in the morning, followed by a sauna and then get ready for your day, don't even bother looking at this hotel). The 'spa' is a jacuzzi that is only open at strange and inconvenient times. I couldn't find the indoor pool (which you can only use with a swim cap, which you can buy for 2euros at reception). The outdoor pool was okay but not particularly long so getting a good swim in was never going to happen. The sauna was only open from 8pm to 11pm. Food ordered through room service was undercooked (burger was practically steak tartar) and the dessert ordered wasn't available - the replacement was truly awful. The hotel is not near the Roman baths or ruins and is not a 'luxury experience'. It also is not the price advertised on booking.com and you'll need to make sure you read the fine print, where you'll find it's in a higher price bracket that I would never have booked if I'd realised. I would thoroughly recommend staying somewhere else where the staff are better, the surrounding facilities are nicer and more convenient (and worth the ridiculously overpriced room rate), and somewhere that is easier to get to. In fact, I would just recommend staying somewhere else.

The room was large and there was air conditioning. The woman on reception was initially helpful and pleasant but then the staff were quite happy assuming that if you couldn't speak much Spanish you mustn't be able to understand it - which is not the case. If you're going to be rude and condescending, best ascertain that the customer doesn't understand you - or better yet, just don't do it at all and provide better customer service. This hotel is also nowhere near the Roman baths and ruins (which is why I had booked it); it is on a roundabout in a weird location in the middle of nowhere and generally unpleasant on pretty much every front except for the room itself, which was actually quite nice and what you would expect for a 4* hotel.
