No kitchen access (but who needs it when you are steps from dozens of shops, bars, markets, and restaurants?!?!

Perfect location with a very comfortable bed and French doors overlooking a small square in the older area of town.

It was noisy outside. There was a national holiday. We did not research Spanish holidays so our fault.

WiFi did not work very well. Noisy unless the door was closed. Door did a great job of cutting out the noise so we could sleep.

Great location in the old town. Neat old building.

Old town hotel in very noisy area

My main problem with this hotel is I couldn't get much sleep the 3 nights I was there. My room faced the street and there are locals and tourist out celebrating until 3 or 4 am. Street cleaning starts at 5 am! So the location is both good and bad. The building itself is noisy so you hear everyone climb the wooden stairs. I heard every footstep in the room above also. Other issues I had was there was no safety deposit box in my room and for the price I would have expected one. Meant I had to carry all valuables with me in Santiago. There is no coffee, tea, of bottle of water on offer. There is no lift, just stairs, not an issue for me but might be for others. Can't really comment on staff as apart from check-in I never saw them. Overall I wouldn't stay here again as it's just way too noisy and after 3 days I was exhausted.

My room was a good size for and 'old town' hotel, furniture was in keeping with building and bathroom was fine for me. The location is good for cafes and restaurants right outside and not too far from the cathedral.

Your medieval magic in the heart of the old city.

Everything was fine. People should note there is no lift, as you can't put lifts in historic buildings.

The room was huge, the bed comfortable, the bathroom large and modern, and the hotel is an historic building with perfectly preserved medieval atmosphere and period furniture. My room had a glassed in balcony looking down on the street, so I could literally watch people on this busy pedestrian street while I sat there. Yet it was quiet at night and comfortable to sleep, as I was provided with a fan (requested on booking.) There was no meal option with my room, but plenty of cafés within a few metres, as this was the heart of the old town. A perfect place to stay.

Prospective customers must realise that there is no breakfast offered, though it is not too difficult to make your own arrangements, given that there is a small supermarket 100 metres away. There is also no 'front desk' so make sure your phone is working to contact the owners to let you in.

PS Santo Grial is perfectly situated in Santiago de Compostela. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the train but just a couple of minutes from the square where one can catch the bus to the airport - or be dropped off from the airport. We had the upstairs balcony room so we could sit out there overlooking the small square watching the passing parade. The room was a good size, the bathroom immaculate and there was no shortage of eating places close by. All the key places of interest such as the cathedral and public parks are close by. Those who have difficulty negotiating flights of stairs might be dissuaded from booking this accommodation but otherwise it was an excellent choice for us.

There is no reception or staff. The cleaner tried to help but had no English & our Spanish limited. The wifi did not work in rooms due to thick stone & it was necessary to go to top floor room which was smaller & not double glazed for noise to get wifi signal. Otherwise we would have had to stand in stairs. Due to these factors €80 per night was high price. The central location means street is noisy .without double glazing you need ear plugs.

Central location .close to airport bus
