Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThis boutique hotel was stylish and modern, yet did not sacrifice an iota of comfort. The terrace was lovely, as was the full breakfast. Our room was so comfortable and the bathroom felt luxurious. Quieter neighborhood with lots of cafes and restaurants, with quick metro access to see the sites. Would stay here again.

United Kingdomthe range of cocktails provided was limited and when I asked for something else, I was told they don't have the ingredients. Menu in rooftop lounge was very limited.
The room was a decent size with a chair and lots of space. The bathroom was a decent size. The toiletries were excellent especially the body lotion. Breakfast was very good with a large choice of things to eat. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice to have a roof top lounge

PortugalNot sure. If only there was a coffee machine in the room.
The beds were super comfortable (including our large dog’s bed). Everything is very tasteful. The roof restaurant/bar was fantastic. Definitely the best pet friendly hotel I have ever stayed in, in a city location.

AustraliaNothing, my only comment would be that the mattress was a little firm, but that's about it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel, room, and location are all comfortable, especially during the heat. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, especially the staff who made sure to let me know what was on offer. Able to accommodate when small changes needed to be made.

SpainNot applicable. Everything was really fine,
There are boutique hotel that say they are boutique hotels and then you have Villa Emilia. It's a small hotel with big and nicely decorated rooms and also the roof terrace is very inviting. Staff always do their best to create the ultimate guest experience and it's a hotel I would repeat. The breakfast is also very good with a wide buffet to choose from.

AustraliaI am not sure if this is a Spanish custom, but when we arrived we were looking forward to a cup of tea, but there was no kettle in the room. There is a cafe within the hotel, but after travelling it would be good to just put the kettle on in the room. I think for the money we paid a kettle with a few tea and coffee bags would make this place perfect.
We loved our welcome and the room and surrounding areas were very clean and attractive. Our favourite part was being able to take the lift to the Terrace to read or have a drink. The hotel is within walking distance to many places or to public transport.

AustraliaConveniently located near the Metro station in a lovely neighborhood. The personal care products are from L’occitane which is nice. Breakfast is not included but you can purchase for the days you want to have it. The selection of food is high quality despite the limited varieties. There’s no kettle or coffee machine in the room. The staff kindly sent a kettle to our room after we asked for one. (coz I wanna make some hot tea.) The Chinese restaurant right across the street was nice. Suitable for a casual dinner if you want a change for food after a few days.

United KingdomThe pillows. One of the hardest, most unforgiving pillows I have ever had the misfortune to experience in a hotel. I can't stand synthetic pillows even if they are soft, and this one wasn't. It was like placing your head on a solid block of polystyrene. All 4 were the same. I ended up trying to sleep with no pillow at all. Kicking myself for not bringing my own pillow from home - trust me, you'll be happier if you do. (I have now read other reviews mentioning the bad pillows, and hotel responses: apparently the reception desk can offer alternative pillow options on request, but this was not made clear when I checked in, and no card in the room to mention other options were available, so for 2 nights I did not realize. And would the alternative pillows have included one that is actually comfortable, I don't know...) Bathroom lacked face-cloths, I would expect those for this level of hotel. Bathroom also lacked a bath-mat. The shower easily flooded part of the bathroom floor, I had to use one of the bath towels to mop up - fine as I was a solo guest and so had towels to spare, but it would be better if the hotel simply acknowledged this problem - it must affect every guest, and numerous reviews mention it - and gave one extra floor towel or mat for this purpose. Not much shelf space for clothing. The shelf storage in the wardrobe is all taken up with fridge, safe, and glasses and corkscrew - it's really not clear why there isn't one more shelf in the wardrobe cupboard, above where the glasses and corkscrew are. The elevators are quite bad - although there are 2 elevators, they are both small, there is no indicator outside to tell you which floor the elevator is currently on, the call buttons are weird (3 buttons but only 1 button works), the hotel has 7 floors, and at the obvious busy times like 9.00am you have to wait several minutes for an elevator.
Stylish and charming hotel, spacious room, everything I could want for a 2 night business trip. The bed was comfortable (except for a decent pillow, see below). Excellent wi-fi, each room has its own individual router, for a consistently great connection. The local area was quiet at night, considering this is near the city center, and I appreciated being able to open the window for fresh air. Exceptionally helpful and efficient - and genuinely friendly - staff at the reception desk, all staff I met over my stay were truly wonderful. Some small touches, I liked the lighting in the room with several options so I could set the light level just right. The wardrobe had a hanging rail which automatically lit up with LED lighting when the door was opened: I want one! The bath towels were new and good quality, with a smart Hotel Emilia logo.

United KingdomMinor niggle but it irritates me when the shower makes the floor wet for the bathroom when you use it and you end up paddling in a puddle .. just a bit tedious - put a door on the cubicle.

United StatesThe room was exceptionally nice, with a city view in three directions. The room sound-proofing was excellent and necessary- Barcelona can be VERY noisy. The bathroom was clean and very nicely appointed. The shower was superb, with multiple, modern and highly functional shower heads. Water pressure and temperature were really great. After a long day of sightseeing, it was a delight to relax under the soothing water cascade. The staff were very kind, considerate and attentive to every request. Breakfast was excellent, and cost was reasonable given the location. Metro access was within the same block and the Barcelona Sants train station was a short cab ride away.
