There was live music and dancing nearly every night in the main building, sometimes with famous-ish Finnish pop stars. We loved it. In the morning, there were a lot of nice breakfast options. I liked the herring, fresh bread and jam and porridge in particular. The hotel is situated quite near to the start of cross-country skiing tracks. We took a room with its own sauna, and made use of it every day after a day's skiing.

We were not really made to feel welcome! We were told the incorrect time for church services.

Good breakfast although the scrambled eggs were powdered and not real. Our apartment with the sauna was really nice. would have preferred a double bed but hey ho! Bus stop was really convenient for airport and ski/sightseeing.

Rooms would need some refurbishments. Breakfast buffet is good if you are early, but if you came after 9am you probably don't find all stuff. Spanish waiter at breakfast takes plate just after you take last bite ... seems to be in a hurry all time.

It was my 4th stay in about 15 yrs and still the location is great. Direct access to x-country slopes and national park, but still near to village center. Great variability of rooms and apartments as well as restaurants.

It is the off season so only one hotel restaurant was open for dinner. None of the staff could help with activities or recommendations of other options to eat or drink to tide us over until the one restaurant/bar opened at 4pm for dinner.

Its a bit spooky that there is nobody present in the hotel building. But understandable.

The room in the Gielas building is great! Its so big! And the privat sauna is nice to. The sheets were so soft.

Some people may not like having to walk from the buildings where the rooms are to the main building where breakfast/dinner is served.

Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities in room. Supermarket nearby. (No cooking facilities though in hotel rooms). The half board option gives you a reasonable buffet meal each night if you don't want to venture out to the local restaurants. Hotel residents also get free entrance to the entertainment which was on 3 of the 4 nights I stayed.

This hotel is very well positioned, but it is quite dated. Badly in need of a renovation and decor upgrade.

There were numerous problems with our apartment, but they were dealt with swiftly by reception. Room Sauna was excellent in First building, with balcony to go out to. In the second building it was terrible.

Only frustrating event was attempting to make massage reservations before our trip. Three email attempts given dates, times and number of people. Received response from employee but she never made reservations. Was disappointed that only half of our party able to get massage- which they loved! Wish communication was better.

Location was perfect- airport shuttle drop off at the hotel door. Easy walk to all activities and restaurants. Cleaning and wait staff were wonderful and friendly.

Room was never cleaned on three-day stay. Not even an apology... The rooms are a bit dated and tired. The beds were not very comfortable, particularly the extra bed we requested for a third person in the room.

Good breakfast, central location, in wonderful scenery. Good range of excursions and activities available on offer.

There was very little variation in the breakfast buffet. One of the receptionists was not very friendly (the others were ok). The room was a bit worn-out. The sofa and armchair were not the best possible for sitting longer times. The bedside lamps were too dim for reading in bed.

Next to the ski trails. Airport bus stops at the hotel door. Spacious apartment with sauna. The site has a real winter at theses times of climate change.

The old building is a hassle to reach with luggage in winter coz u have to carry all ur stuff up to ur room especially if it isnt at the ground floor..

Saariselka generally is really quiet.. the receptionist was really helpful gave us tips n wat to do and where to go.. Walking distance from the small village where u can find souvenir shops and safari companies. Breakfast was also good :)

The hotel next door was under construction, so there was a lot of noise throughout the day and evening. I would expect this to be completed sometime this fall, before the ski season starts.

Room was very nice, modern, and large. Huge breakfast spread. Easily walkable to everything in Saariselkä - only takes about five minutes.

The one bedroom apartments are quite dated. It would have been nice if the kitchens contained basic things like salt, pepper, oil.

The location is great, right near the entrance to the ski slopes and snowshow trails and a very short walk from the tobogann hills. The one bedroom apts come with saunas which after a very active day were a delight. The food in the main bar is good, nothing fancy but decent enough.

The northern lights were here every night and the area has A lot of lights of a night so had to walk awhile to get away from hotel or street lights. We found near the sled area was ok.

The hotel is so convenient to everything. We had a apartment which was spacious and had its own sauna. The ski bus was right at the hotel and cost 5 euro for the day. We rented skis at the slopes so left them there of an evening. There are lots of places to eat or have a drink nearby but the hotel also has nice meals and lovely staff. The breakfast was amazing with everything you need on offer. There is also a bus into Ivalo or to the airport from out the front. The hotel organised our tours by snowmobile and reindeer Safari too.
