Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. AustraliaIt was quite dated, particularly the main pool and the bedrooms/ bathrooms. Most of the staff were very friendly - however there was a good portion that seemed frustrated and not happy a lot of the time. Like a lot of these resorts / there was no monitoring of hogging pool side chairs and we often found there was no where to sit by the pool.
The location on the lagoon was magical. Perfect for snorkelling and families. Lots to do for kids

New ZealandWifi on the TV was very temperamental. Food was Ok but not top quality. We did have sometimes where we ordered drinks and they didn't arrive. We were also never offered a chance to order a coffee at breakfast.
We enjoyed a nice quiet stay at the Reef Wing in the adults only area. Loved the snorkeling just out off the beach. Lots of seating available by the pool and out under the trees. Good access from the ground level to everything. Mini Golf was fun. All staff were friendly.

New ZealandWe would love it if there was a room option that could house 4 - once your kids get bigger you seem to have to book two rooms...this is very pricey. They don't seem to do single bed options only two doubles in a room- could easily split one of those beds into two singles. Or at least configure a few bigger family sized rooms. There are great deals for families with young children and that's where this sort of holiday works best without bankrupting you. Some of the restaurant food is crazy expensive ....and there is a lot of wastage after breakfast...so much is produced , I hope some of this gets back to the villages. Also every day you get new plastic bottles of water in your room- could not see any recycling bins- where do all these bottles end up? Hopefully there is something in place , maybe we didn't see it. We are still waiting for our $600 food deposit to be refunded as promised several days ago when we left....😏
This is a well run easy place to stay and relax in beautiful Fiji. The buffet breakfasts are ginormous, there are nice beach swimming options and several pools. It's always busy, but it's spread out and there are quiet spots , a golf course, something for everyone. The staff are lovely.

AustraliaThe rooms are dated and I had several issues with my room over my one week stay. 1) There were water droplets dropping onto me and my pillow when I sleep on my first day. I killed a small cockroach in the bathroom. 2) Day 2 - There was a big cockroach and I called the reception. They sent someone over to kill it. When the guy was here, a lizard appeared running on my bed which the staff caught. I asked for room transfer that night. I was given a temporary room and nice to be upgraded to the adult wing the day after. 4) Day 3 to day 6- there were mosquitoes in my room. I rang the reception two days later as I couldn’t cope anymore. They sprayed the room but the mosquito bites continued my entire stay. I had terrible sleeps my entire stay. Overall fantastic experience with the staff and facilities. However, it is a terrible experience to deal with crawling and flying creatures and a leaky roof at a high end hotel like Shangri-La for a basic peaceful night sleep.
I like that we can borrow kayak and do snorkeling at the resort. Friendly staff and lots of food options within that resort. The adult wing happy hour is a great concept. The spa was real retreat out in the forest with great therapist. It was an amazing experience.

United StatesIt’s in a very isolated location with no shuttles or ability to go anywhere without spending a fortune. I was not told my meal package (which was basically an allowance for meals that I had to stay under) did not include tips or nonalcoholic drinks.
Great food and choices, beautiful resort, beaches, water activities included

United KingdomThe buffet restaurants and main pool were ok for families but of travelling withiut younger kids then a bit chaotic.
Adults only Reef wing and adults only dining is a must if you are travelling without children. Very relaxing and the staff are lovley. The activities are a must. (I have 2 older kids so not anti-children but the restaurant and pools for family's are busy.)

New ZealandTwo things: our first meal was at the Lagoon walk-in restaurant, which cost a ridiculous FJD190 for two adults. When we went to a booked restaurant, the cost was a fraction of that. Was charged twice on my debit card on checkout for meals/drinks and had to wait near on 2 months for the refund.
The staff were great, the Reef wing for adults only was peaceful and relaxing, and the daily evening cocktail hour was fun to attend. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Daily morning walks around the resort were pleasant.

New ZealandWe paid $1000 nzd a night and three of us squeezed in one bed . The sofa bed is not really comfortable for a child very low on the floor. The lagoon view room only has one bed option in the room. The room is very dated . Not up to 5 star standard . The swimming pool never has chairs available. Most people arrive first thing in the morning and leave their belongings on the chair all day despite the sign saying not to. We arrived there one day before swimming pools were open, no chairs and no people there but all chairs were occupied with bags.
The staff are so fabulous and warm and welcoming , always greeting us with Bula. The restaurants offer massive varieties of food , the buffet restaurant has different themes almost every day and very devine food and there are three restaurants to choose from. The housekeeping staff are super friendly. Anything we need, they bring over quickly . The hotels facilities are 5 star , with golf , spa , mini golf , tennis ,waterpark and different water activities to entertain the kids. The water is crystal clear near the Asian restaurant for snorkelling. Very few mosquitoes as the hotels spray each day

AustraliaService is very very slow all across the island - many of the staff seem uneducated and not customer oriented. Breakfast was chaotic, frequently running out of plates or other items and very hard to track a staff member down. Facilities are dated in the rooms and in communal areas. It's in major need of a refresh. Food and drinks are average - with a lot of 'weird' versions of known international dishes that are just totally different. Bathroom design is bizarre, with shower at the highest point meaning water runs into the rest of the bathroom from the under the shower door....
Lovely isolated full island vibe and plenty of family fun to be had. Good atmosphere in general. The overall environment is well maintained and a nice place to be. Kids club and nannies were great.

AustraliaIt is a little dated in the rooms but still very comfortable and clean.
The resort island itself is gorgeous! Location is stunning with lots of places to capture the view and enjoy an activity at the same time. This is a very kid friendly resort, but also great for adult groups. We travelled for a wedding and had a large group and all staff/restaurants were super accomodating of us. The drinks package is very cost effective if you plan on drinking throughout the day-night as it includes non alcoholic drinks. We would absolutely come back!

United StatesNot the fault of the resort, but screaming kids running rampant without parent control. I understand you're on vacation, but one has to monitor your kids. The Shangri-la is huge. It's not good for anyone who has difficulty walking aways. The buggies aren't always readily available. On the flip side, if you're able, you'll definitely keep in shape and walk off that huge breakfast you eat every morning. Also, I don't know if this is a Fiji thing, but having stayed at the Warwick and a hotel in Suva, wash cloths aren't always given. You get tons of bath towels and the occasional hand towel, but a wash cloth is hit or miss.
Breakfast that was included in our stay was fabulous, especially at the Italian restaurant that only serves adults. The Lagoon was too noisy with lots of families. Nothing against children, but if you're on vacation, you don't want screaming children running around. An adult only restaurant was so tranquil to begin the morning. Staying at the Reef was worth the extra money. The infinity pool with the ocean as the backdrop, so nice. Also the Happy Hour with free cocktails, wine, beer and canapes, oh, my... I looked forward to that every day we stayed.
