The company conferences/seminars running into the bar area and flip charts with their timetables in reception area, talking loudly on mobile phones discussing future meetings, company plans etc - reminded us of work rather than holiday and disturbed a peaceful time reading a book, game or quiet conversation.

Friendly, availability of coffee, wine, beer and soft drinks.

The carpets in the corridors are extremely old and smelly , the building needs renovation, the bar needs real improvement - has broken window glass, wine is free but served in plastic cups , there is a fireplace and wood but nobody starts the fire...

The location was good, and the room was comfortable. Bed linen and towels were clean and good. The bathroom was no surprise and was goodç. The ski room was practical

Parking rather random; the multi-storey alongside hotel does not belong to hotel, so need to park in the few Alpen Roc marked bays only, then walk down ramp(s) to hotel rather than use the lift. Using the same steep ramp in the morning to exit the (unheated) boot room (if in ski boots) is treacherous after snowfall. Could be disastrous start to holiday. Rooms clean but very basic & mattess thin with big dip in middle making sleep a tricky concept, especially with hot room, despite open window & heater off. Breakfast is identical every morning - ok if you love processed meats & cheese. Would have appreciated option to pay a more reasonable rate without 24/7 access to wine & beer and ‘free’ afternoon tea & cake.

Reception staff very helpful with booking restaurants etc. Location ok for ski lifts. Room clean. Swimming pool, although small, was not overly used, so good for warm-downs, along with sauna, though steam room not very steamy/warm/therapeutic.

The breakfast was OK but nothing special. Upon arrival 01 am in the night we were locked out since the door phone did not work. The SPA part was modest and all floors were very wet. The biggest problem was the waiting times for the only elevator.

Not good value for money, it wasn't as close to the slopes as we thought it would be, no tea and coffee in the rooms and it the buffet and wine were disappointing considering the price. Great meat and salads but roast lamb or beef should really be served with roast potatoes rather than pasta or polenta. Nice rooms and comfortable beds but 2 different lifts to get to our room.

The pool was a lovely place to relax after a day on the slopes but it is quite small and often busy, as was the sauna and Jacuzzi.

The Alpen Roc is a bustling family hotel within easy reach of the ski school meeting place and the centre of town (tip - hire your skis from one of the shops by the ice rink to avoid carrying them every day). The rooms were well insulated and the beds comfortable so we slept soundly every night. Our rate included a buffet breakfast and dinner. We hadn't had an 'all inclusive' holiday before and were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the food, both hot and cold. Drinks were available all day. Table football, pool and cards available in the bar. Information boards telling you what is happening in the resort (but in French).

Parking : not within the premises, but within a public parking near by (not handy for unloading/loading) Given the hotel is built on a hill, accessing the rooms on upper floors necessitate to use two different elevators. In peak time/hours, it can take a while (stairs are faster, if this is an option). The hill to access the ski room is quite sharp, and not easy when using ski boots (slipery) The bed size was quite small for the two of us. Probably depends on the room size & category, but my feet were actually out of the bed (I’m 183).

The location was quite central, a good thing for a skiing resort like La Clusaz which can be quite spreaded. The pool/steam room/sauna is quite relaxing after a day spent on the slopes. The service in general, with light meal awaiting after the ski day, or the open bar formula. The staff always eager helping.

Ski/boot room unclean, not enough seats, not secure enough. Toilets by reception were very unclean. Booking.com says tea & coffee making facilities in room - no there aren't. Bedrooms are tired and furniture is badly worn and scratched. Not as pictures on website. Luggage room not secure - door unlocked. Walk from hotel to ski lifts was only a few minutes but it did involve walking up and down some steep hills in your ski boots. No UK TV channels if you want that sort of thing.

The safe in our room was broken, and despite asking for it to be fixed three times (and being promised it would be, especially after a staff member looked at it and agreed it need to be fixed that day) it was never fixed at all. The room we had was right opposite the lift - the noise of it going up and down all night kept us awake, so avoid rooms 107/207/307 etc. Breakfast seemed expensive at £10 per person, so we just went into the village for breakfast each morning and spent less than £10 for all four of us in a local bakery/bar. It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room to keep our bottles of water in.

The staff were friendly and generally helpful. The hotel was clean and close to the town, so it was easy to get access to restaurants and bars and the ski slopes. Within 5 minutes of leaving the hotel door you can be at one of the ski lifts. The hotel has its own boot room for ski and boots, but we just left ours at Ski3000 overnight so we didn't have to carry them back to the hotel each day as the walk back at night is all uphill.

Workmen starting at 6:30 am on the floor above, scraping furniture across the floor, banging and using power tools. I did complain. Pillows look good but are very uncomfortable - 1x too thin, 1x very fat and hard. Bad nights sleep every night. Dogs in the restaurant and actually at the table on people laps. Unhygenic. Dog poo (presumably from dog guests) outside the front door, that wasn't cleared up during our whole 4 night stay. Communal toilets were aged / grubby and didn't seem very clean. For a 3 star hotel paying 400 eur for a night (2 pp room), it's overpriced from a price quality perspective. No mini-bar or 'water bottles/accessories' in the room nor bathroom. No problem, but for 400eur a tat off. The parking is said to be free and you can't reserve but during peak season you might not get a spot as they are limited, so be prepared. Going to a floor above level 2 requires changing lifts. No big deals and it was listed in prior reviews so you know what you get. Spa was nice but small and sauna and steam room had a (too) low temperature, perhaps to make it kid-friendly. Still good to have and they have the opportunity to put few accessories/decoration as well as towels out there to improve the experience quite a bit at little costs.

A hotel with friendly staff, clean room, simple but good breakfast and well located to ski (300 or 500mtr walk to ski lifts)!
