Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWould be tricky with young kids as the stairs are open plan.
Cute little house in a brilliant location close to the historic Cité. Great base for exploring. We particularly appreciated the roof terrace, and spent most of our time when at home out there. Despite being in a fairly populated area it was so quiet and peaceful. At night it is dark and while there are streetlights, we were able to see the night sky (and shooting stars) from the roof terrace. The host is super welcoming and communication was speedy and friendly. Thanks Frederick, we’ll be back!

United KingdomThe air-conditioning was great but when it got really hot 32 degrees, we took the fans from the kitchen to our rooms for extra air flow. There is a switch above the bed on the top floor to close the velux blind which was handy to block out the afternoon sun and closing the curtains helped too. There wasn't anything we didn't like, but the stairs do get a bit of getting used too, the owner thoughtfully provided us with crocs which were helpful.
This accommodation was perfect for myself and my daughter as we had a room and a bathroom each. The house is on 3 floors with the kitchen on the ground floor and the first bedroom on the middle floor with a separate toilet and shower room which was also the utility room. My room was on the third floor with an ensuite wet room and access to the terrace. It was great, we had air conditioning in both bedrooms and fans in the kitchen. We did eat on the terrace a few times, but it was too hot some days! The view from the terrace was great as we could see the walls and also hear the concerts going on inside the city, Alanis Morissette played whilst we were there! We also had the privilege of seeing the amazing fireworks from the citadel on Bastille Day, best display I've ever seen! The location was fab and close to the walls of the medieval city. Just take a left out of the front door, left again and then right to climb quite a few stairs and you're at the entrance closest to the Château. You can also take a walk around the inside and outside of the walls to the other entrance with the draw bridge. The citadel is a beautiful place filled with bars, restaurants and shops. We went on the audio tour around the Château and ramparts for €23 each, but you may be able to get a discount if booked online but I didn't check it out. There is a good shop just a fews mins away in the other direction that sells nearly everything in the direction of the new town via pont vieux or pont neuf. There's also a new ice cream/bakery shop, a tabac, wine shop, truffle restaurant and pharmacy before you get to the bridge. Just behind that street there is a street filled with bars and shops and restaurants, we tried Santa Maria a Spanish restaurant that was amazing for our vegan diet. In the new town you have lots to choose from in the main square Place Carnot, but there are many streets with shops, galleries, restaurants ect.

United KingdomThe stairs are a bit steep, but this is expected in this style of house. While they weren't a problem for us at all, I wanted to warn others as I know 100% if my mum had joined us on this trip, she would have definitely struggled.
Our stay was fantastic. I travelled with my sister and friend. Two double rooms were great with their own bathrooms. The location was perfect for us with a very short walk to the castle itself. It's about a 20-minute leisurely (and scenic!) stroll into Carcassonne Town Square. There are some small shops nearby that had all the basics needed. The house was very clean, with aircon and wifi. Balcony was a superb bonus that allowed us to chill in the sun privately. Laëtitia (house manager) was an absolute star. I was travelling to a wedding in the middle of our stay that was not as easily accessible as i thought and she took me there and returned a few days later to pick me up She also took us to the airport early when we were going home. Really enjoyed the stay overall. Would definitely stay again!

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like
We had a wonderful short stay. Every detail was catered for by the owner. The beds were very comfortable. Having a terrace to sit on in such a location was perfect. Everywhere was walkable from the house. We found free parking nearby to be very easy. The host Frederick was in regular contact. We will return to this pleasantly ‘quirky’ house for sure.

United StatesThis didn’t affect us but this place is not for people with mobility issues.
The layout is a bit quirky but it didn’t bother us. It’s a very old house that’s been updated, and because of the age of the property, the options were limited. The main thing is that the location is fantastic. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated having both a washer and dryer.

IrelandThere was nothing to dislike.
The location was great just a short walk to the centre. We had a lovely view of the castle from the roof terrace. The house itself was beautiful full of character with a modern twist. The owner Fredric was very friendly. We would definitely recommend a stay at this wonderful house.

United KingdomThe only thing that concerned me a bit was the precarious nature of the staircases. There isn’t a handrail for the lower one and there’s a gap that overlooks the living room which a small child could easily fall through. The open steps up to the second floor could also be problematic for children.
The house was very well equipped and very comfortable and clean and the location was excellent. The outside roof terrace was lovely but unfortunately the poor weather meant we were unable to enjoy it. Our host, Frederick, was a lovely guy. Before we went he answered all our questions promptly and he picked us up at the airport when we arrived and dropped us off when we left.

United StatesLots of stairs, but we knew about that.
We loved Carcahouse! It was in such a beautiful location, so close to the walled city. It was very peaceful and restful, too. Terrace had a beautiful view. Kitchen very well equipped. 2 bathrooms. It would’ve been great for even more people than we had. We loved having a CD player with some CDs available in the living room. We listened to French classics while we made breakfast and dinner. In a city with expensive and not particularly great food options, it was great to be able to eat in.
