How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewParking was paid, but they kindly let us park in the morning, so we could drop the car off and enjoy sightseeing right away.
1. Location The location was a bit too far to walk to Marseille, and the area around the property seemed very dirty and unsafe. (Many of the cars parked on the street had broken windows or were heavily damaged.) 2. Cleaning I consider myself a clean guest and have even received messages from hosts thanking me for keeping their places tidy. However, upon checkout at this property, the hostess told me the toilet was dirty and made me clean it while she watched. I don't understand why I had to do the cleaning myself when a cleaning fee was included in my stay. 3. Swimming Pool The swimming pool was too small, so we didn't use it at all, even though it was very hot during our two-night stay.

Verified reviewWe stayed here for two nights but wished we had stayed longer! Such a cosy and relaxing place. The poolarea was just the right size and so cute. The couple that runs this hotel were so so sweet! Helped us with our luggage and the parking and were just so lovely! You could feel the no stress vibes. The family room was so much space, great kitchen and a big bathroom. Very clean and organized. We were told there was a boule place near by and so we went, and what a lovely place. Great food to! Verified reviewThe host Nathalie. The garden area. The comfortable bed. The plants and colour and the excellent breakfast. It is in an area that is not touristy so you get to see more regular Marseille.

Verified reviewEverything! Loved it from the moment we walked in, quirky, everything was explained in detail by Franck . The pool looked so inviting but the weather hadn't warmed up enough. The apartment is large. The bakery on the corner provided fresh crossiants, the butcher also had an amazing array of produce. The local bar was quaint and we chatted via translator! The walk into the city is doable about 35 mins.
Everything was great!!

Verified reviewThe host, Franck, is a caring and warm individual. Very welcoming and helpful. Very hospitable! We also loved Raymond and ZaZa, his adorable miniature pinschers. The property is a well-loved and tended, truly a hidden gem! There is a very nice pool, the interior patio is lush and cozy, especially at night with fairy lights and lamps everywhere. After some guidance from Franck, we decided to walk about 20 mins. to Longchamps then caught a trolley to the waterfront and enjoyed an excellent, leisurely lunch outside. Later we strolled around the Vieux-Port de Marseille (inlet) to 2 Quai du Port and took the little train tour (Les Petits Trains de Marseille) as our time was limited and walking around would not have allowed us to see very much. It was so worth it! The World Cup of Rugby matches last weekend had the city hopping with lots of fans from the UK - the atmosphere was a lot of much fun! In the evening, we did a little food shopping at a local Carrefour before returning and had a nice, light meal at the apartment. Slept great and our *taxi picked us up on time to get us to the airport by 6:30 a.m. *(I gave Franck the driver's mobile number and hopefully he still has it - a very professional young guy named Ahmed who loves to practice his English. If you need a cab, please give this hard-working family man a try.)
Shower was a bit challenging - very hot water and overhead shower head was inoperable (for us). However, the hand-held shower head worked fine. Care is required due to temperature of water. No AC but with both fans running, we slept very well. Pillows were just a bit hard for me, but that is a personal preference.

Verified reviewI liked the hosts, Frank and Gilbert, very much. They have 2 lovely small dogs and a cat (the cat may have been a visitor). The room had everything we needed. The hosts put on a great breakfast, much more than we could eat. There's a bus stop 2 minutes walk from the apartment and the nearest metro station is just a 10 minute walk away. The dip pool was very welcome at the end of a hot day.
There were fans, but no air-conditioning in the room we were in. It felt a little humid at times. The neighbourhood is not a glamourous one. I would not advise moving the car once it is the underground parking (located in the next street) if you are not familiar with driving in France. Beware of mosquitos in the garden area.

Verified reviewThe neighbourhood is not safe at all. Our car was parked in the underground garage and was vandalized in the first night that we arrived. The property doesn’t assume responsability for the parking lot. We supposed to go to Spain from there, but our holiday stopped at Casa Ammirati, Marseille.
