Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaNothing we could think of.
Castel De La Terrasse is perfectly located in a quiet area near the center of Etretat and sheds the charming atmosphere of a historic villa. Our room was spacious, always very clean and offered beautiful views to the town and the sea behind, as well as to the gorgeous garden surrounding the property. Having breakfast on tables shared with other guests is a very nice concept to bring people together and the food was delicious, prepared from things for every taste. Estelle is a wonderful host and everyone else of the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Many thanks to all of you, we've enjoyed our stay so much!

UkraineThe room was beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very stylish as well. The design is thoughtful down to the details. The room had everything needed, including a kettle and a coffee machine. It was very quiet, with a beautiful view from the window, and the sea was within walking distance!

UkraineA magical and unforgettable place — thank you, Castel De La Terrasse! Staying at Hotel was an absolutely magical experience. From the moment you step inside, you feel as though you’re being transported through time into the elegant, textured world of the French bourgeoisie. The interior design is remarkable — filled with history, charm, and a refined sense of beauty that makes every corner feel like a curated story. The views from the rooms are breathtaking, opening up to the sea, the cliffs, and a beautifully kept garden. Mornings begin with exceptional breakfasts served in a luminous salon overlooking this picturesque landscape. Everything is made from fresh local ingredients: delicious cheeses, homemade jams, warm bread, croissants, and outstanding coffee. The egg dishes, prepared to order, are simply perfect. I want to extend special thanks to the owners and staff, who welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality — it truly felt like visiting old friends. Every detail of our stay was wrapped in a peaceful, almost timeless serenity. The garden and private parking area are spacious and beautifully maintained, offering a quiet retreat after a day of exploring. A note for travelers: as this is a historic building, there is no elevator, and the charming wooden staircase is narrow and steep. This may be important to consider if you have mobility issues or heavy luggage. However, this is part of the building’s character — and easily outweighed by everything else this place offers. This stay was a gift, and I’m deeply grateful for the time spent here. Thank you for creating such an extraordinary experience — I will never forget it.

UkraineI liked everything but you should consider few moments: - city tax (3 eur per person per night) is paid on check out by cash; - breakfast includes cheese, eggs, cereals, pastry, beverages- no veggies or meat, if you fancy this - rooms don’t have vanity kits or slippers, one La Roche Posay soap-shampoo - obviously there is no elevator but steep stairs- might be an issue for elderly people - seagulls are very loud, think about night ears plugs - do book sea view room, it is totally worth it ; try to stay more than 1 night to get full experience
Well maintained old villa with friendly hosts, amazing breakfast from local products, 5 mins from main seafront, I would recommend.

We had the most wonderful stay here – the house is absolutely stunning, thoughtfully decorated with artistic taste and unique touches that evoke the spirit of Lupin. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, from the charming interiors to the lovely garden and lawn in front of the house. Our room has multiple windows with breathtaking sea view and over the town. The breakfast was delicious with fresh local products and home-made jams served in such a cozy atmosphere in a charming room. The location is perfect – just a 5-minute walk to the beach and town center, yet peaceful and quiet. What made the stay even more special was the warm and helpful host, who gave us great recommendations for restaurants and scenic trekking routes. Truly one of the most memorable stays we’ve had in France. Highly recommended!

SpainOne minor thing I'd change: there was all-in-one shower gel and shampoo, and I prefer them to be separate.
My best stay ever! Such a beautiful place with amazing views. And breakfast was great too, with local produce from the farms.

Everything was absolutely perfect. The house is incredibly beautiful, full of authentic details, and radiates warmth and love. The location is ideal, the rooms are stunning, everything is spotless clean, and the atmosphere is simply magical. The food was delicious — truly some of the best I’ve ever had. The owner and everyone we met were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. They even allowed us early check-in and to leave our luggage after check-out, showing real care and flexibility. You feel like you are stepping into history, and it’s a place you immediately want to return to again and again.

NetherlandsThis place was just amazing! Such a unique experience living in an old French villa with a stunning view. The location is perfect. The host was so friendly and nice. Breakfast was so good with fresh pastries, delicious cheeses and scrambled eggs. We stayed in room of 38m, it had cute bathroom and the best view. Strongly recommend! The only thing was the strange smell in the room one day but don’t forget the place is quite old.

BelgiumA wonderful mansion! Polite staff, advised us where to go, we were wonderfully greeted at breakfast. The house is shrouded in magic, everything is thought out to the smallest detail! Cleanliness at the highest level. The house is warm and the breakfast is great with farm products. Etretat is the best place for a quiet holiday, and this mansion offers breathtaking views of the sea with sunsets the color of cotton candy.🌊💙

TuvaluThere is absolutely nothing to dislike unless you are put off by climbing steps. But, if you are willing to do stairs, this will be your favorite stop.
Location is perfect. Bed is the best yet during our, so far, 4 weeks of travel throughout France. The included breakfast, in front of the burning fireplace, is also THE best. And, the room was immense. This place, though not inexpensive, is 100% worth the cost. We spent 3 nights. Great place!!
