Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SlovakiaWhat I did not like is the fact the landlord is not very clear about the type of the accommondation here in the description - IT IS HIS HOME AND HE IS RENTING A ROOM IN IT WHILE LIVING THERE. I just want everybody to know this. If you choose with this knowledge I believe you will like when know what to expect.
I have to say that apart from what I write in the "negative" part of the review, everything else was okay. Flat was clean and nice. The landlord even offered us a ride to the centre, since we arrived in the times of big transport strikes and it was difficult to move around the place. We came to Marseille for the music festival so we spent our night there and literally came to the place just to sleep. So in the end we were okay that the flat is shared, because we almost have not been in it.

United KingdomThe host was in the living room behind a curtain, only a few meters from the room, bathroom, and adjacent to the kitchen. We had had a long day, and after check-in around 9.30, we went to be alone for a while. It turns out not only that the room was not at all soundproof, giving no privacy, but when we went at 00.30 to go to the bathroom and put a couple things in the fridge the host went ballistic and shouted at us at the top of his voice for five minutes straight for daring to be awake at that time. He went back into his lounge as we used the bathroom quickly but still needed to put something in the fridge. I felt so on edge, scared about being shouted at again, and sure enough when I opened the fridge I heard him JUMP UP from the other room and pace into the kitchen, effectively grabbing the small bag I had in my hand out of my hand, and shouting at me to get out of his property. It was now 12.45 am or so, and he was screaming at me to go away and go to sleep or he would kick us out to go to a hotel. This is in a not so safe part of Marseille, as he spent ages telling us, and late enough that we would have no other option. This man was aggressive, shouting at the top of his voice to us as if we were schoolchildren, grabbed my things out my hand and threatened us. Because we were awake at 12.30. This host should be blacklisted. I understand respect and quiet after 9 or so, and we were. This host should be blacklisted. We felt so worried, I begged that we could even brush our teeth, which by his graciousness allowed us, and he ended up putting my things in the fridge. We were terrified of him snapping and finally pushing us out so we didn’t dare use the toilet though we needed to. I’ve never felt so unsafe in a place while travelling in all my life. This host should be blacklisted.
The host was lenient and accommodated our later check in time. We spoke for a little while, at first all seemed well. The room itself was nice. In the morning, when the host wasn’t breathing down our necks, it was nice (though 10am checkout is early so we didn’t have much time.)

GermanyIt was a living nightmare. From the passive aggressive communication before ever meeting the owner, to being physically manhandled and manipulated into giving back the keys without him cancelling the booking, this was by far the worst experience of my travelling life. I am appalled. All we did was suffer a delay in our flight, which caused us to miss a train. Then our public transport connection was no longer operational, so we tried a taxi. 20 minutes and no luck, we took a rental car to arrive ASAP. We were invited into the shared apartment, shown into the room. After we took a quick shower, I went to hang my jeans on the balcony (which is displayed as the main photo of the listing BTW), to which he angrily shouted no no no no. The situation quickly became unbearable as he shouted at us in a language he knew we didn't understand, refused to communicate with Google translate, and escalated to the point of him trespassing into our private room. He began picking up and literally throwing our private possessions across a considerable distance, and demanded his keys back without cancelling the reservation from his side. Police threats and held us behind gate for the condo's private parking. I wouldn't be surprised to find out this person has a troubled past, as he was really quite scary. I can forgive a bad mood, but this was something else. Avoid at all costs. Bad location. Man-child of an owner. Not 100m from the sea as claimed. You cannot use the balcony. No public transport after 22:30 (at least on Sunday). Refuses to communicate in anything other than French, including through Google translate. You may be told to go to sleep by this host!
Nothing, owner was an intolerable human being who threw us out (after midnight) because I requested to hang my jeans to air on his balcony. We were late to arrive, but this possibility was communicated both clearly and far in advance (>7 days). Additionally, we messaged with updates in real time. This individual should be blacklisted from Booking.com.

LithuaniaThe host was very organised and polite. His property was always clean, very secure, and only a short walk from the sea. Quiet and very friendly neighbourhood with local restaurants with seafood and continental dishes on the menu. Many picturesque sand beaches with free showers and changing facilities, and a frequent bus no. 35 from/to the city. Very relaxing coastal vibe and southern architecture. I recommend.
