Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy husband and I both like to use a gym. The Mercure Chartrons gym had only machines: bike, cross-trainer, rowing, treadmill. There were no hand weights, no large exercise ball, or weight/cable machine. Breakfast offered Bordeaux's famous canelés on Friday and then they were not available Saturday and Sunday. There was no wheat-free meusli or oatmeal.
The staff were all very nice. Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the bathroom shower screen was not large enough and the floor got soaked. Old wall-mounted hair dryer was very underpowered. I liked the idea of using crispy edible portion cups for the jam. Very cute and practical.

United KingdomRestaurant menu in the evening was somewhat limited. Instructions for arriving with a car were seemingly non existent. We had to park half on the pavement half in a bus lane whilst one of us went inside to establish where the underground car park was located and to obtain the code. If more than one, two or more cars arrived at the same time without knowing the procedure for parking, and having been pre advised the code, there would be potential chaos in the road outside the entrance of the hotel.
Original standard room not to our liking but subsequent upgrade (for an additional cost) was much better

United KingdomNo obvious place to stop and unload the car (it's on a bus lane) and getting to the garage is a trip around the building (could be better signed from the road). Decor is a bit bland corporate and a bit of a walk down long corridors to our room. No chairs or decent desk in the room (it definitely had the space to take them comfortably) and tea and coffee making facilities in the room were a bit motel-like (small paper cups and instant coffee in Little sleeves) and out of keeping with the scale and ambience of the hotel.
The room was a very good size with an enormous comfortable bed. The en-suite had a bath and a proper shower with a WC is a separate area. The underground parking garage (c.100 spaces apparently) was very convenient and had 2 Tesla destination chargers with dedicated parking space. The route 5 bus stops outside and it is a 10 minute walk to the excellent tram system. The staff are very helpful and the cleaning was spotless. Good choices for breakfast, including fry your own and boil your egg options for ultimate freshness! Location is good, in that it has easy access to the centre without being in the busy tourist area.

United StatesFront staff, clean and large double room.
Front staff was kind, helpful and friendly. The staff in the bar/restaurant all need to speak English better, and have a more welcoming attitude. They ast like it's a privilege to serve customers. The bar/dinner staff is very disorganized and, again, dismissive of guests. needs improvement. It also would be nice to have more English-speaking channels on the TV. I got pretty tired of watching the BBX for hours. There needs to be grab rails in the tub/shower. I'm 76, and the tub is so clean that when you add that shower gel, it gets very slippery, with nowhere to grab. very dangerous.

IrelandRoom was adequate for a couple of night stay for a city break. A bit dated in design & decoration but met the purpose. The location was somewhat away from the City Centre and sights to visit but was within walking distance of some good restaurants. All in all a reasonable hotel for the price.

United KingdomThe hot water ran out on our first night even though there didn't seem to be many people in the hotel, we got moved rooms trying to find hot water, and given 2 free drinks for our trouble. The hotel is much further from the centre than I thought, a good 20 minute walk and not much at all around it.
The room was clean. We were given a free upgrade to a suite. There was a fridge and the air con worked well. The staff were brilliant due to moving our room we were given 2 free drinks. Plenty of underground parking.
