Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt's not a criticism, but visitors should be aware that one has to travel (by car or bike) to go out to eat.
Chateau de Juvigny is an amazing place to stay. It is very quiet. Breakfast was superb. The staff were extremely helpful. The grounds are worth exploring and we didn't have enough time for this, sadly.

GermanyNow, while this doesn’t affect our rating (we’re still giving full marks because the experience was so unique and special), we do think a few things are worth mentioning for future guests – especially those staying in the little lakeside cottage. The hut, while very charming and well-equipped, does have a rather rustic and “back-to-basics” feel – almost like staying in the old servants’ quarters. It’s definitely a bit more raw and could use a refresh in some places. It’s also important to note that being so close to nature comes with… well, nature. There were quite a few spiders, and at times the smell from the water directly in front of the window was unfortunately very strong and unpleasant. That said, the atmosphere, the scenery, and the care that has gone into the place still shine through. If you can overlook a bit of mustiness and embrace the slightly wilder side of it all, it’s a truly memorable and magical escape.
All in all, we were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Château de Juvigny and truly enjoyed every moment. This place is a hidden gem – peaceful, elegant, and filled with charm. The adjacent lake is a dream, and the fact that we could even go fishing there made it extra special. With only around five guest rooms, it feels intimate and private – perfect for anyone looking to escape the crowds and find true tranquility. Brigitte, the hostess was very kind, and during her holiday, her friend who stepped in was equally lovely and helpful. The breakfast was an absolute highlight – served in a stunning, regal room that made us feel like Marie Antoinette herself. We’ll absolutely recommend the Château to others – and in fact, many friends have already asked us about it after seeing the beautiful photos.

A charming location and building, spacious room, comfy bed and simple but sufficient breakfast. The owner was on vacation but her friend Christine took good care of us.

United KingdomShower a bit dysfunctional - we suggest the owners try it for themselves? And Maxwell House instant coffee in France?

United KingdomDisappointed that I was asked to park my car down a lane when there is ample parking outside that others used. The mosquitoes were dreadful - not the venue’s fault at all but spoiled our lakeside walk. Be aware that the location is quite remote. Information on restaurants is provided but they are all 15-20mins drive away. There is nothing in the village except a small shop.
Beautiful old building in very good condition. Lovely gardens too. Lovely lake but wasn’t able to enjoy it due to the mosquitoes! Breakfast very good in a lovely room. Very friendly owner who we met a breakfast - unfortunately she wasn’t there when we arrived and the greeting wasn’t overly welcoming.

United KingdomFor some, it may appear shabby chic, for us it was simply French and wonderful
A splendid Chateau with a warm welcome from the host. A comfortable room, we had 'Celine' which had a huge bathroom, great bath and a separate shower. Coffee, tea and kettle in the room a bonus. The linen was great, room clean and welcoming. Breakfast is served in a traditional French room and in French style - all great. We were unlucky with the weather so did not manage a swim in the lake but did take advantage (with coats on) of the rear Chateau views and sit outside with wine and nibbles - what could be better.
