Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyThe inside of the castle is old and neglected. The room where we stayed have seen better days and could benefit of a refresh, especially the bathroom.
The position was perfect to visit the " route des vins", close enough to the typical villages in our to-do list. When you arrive at the castle, the outside is astonishing.

SwitzerlandI was disappointed about toiletries, I had shampoo, body lotion, shower gel, but no soap. The smell in the bathroom wasn’t good as well.
The large space was amazing, it’s quite rare in France. Also the location is special, the view from the spa on the vineyards is incredible.

United States of AmericaThe Les Tommeries restaurant was a major disappointment. Very expensive and though duck was on the menu it was barely cooked and so chewy our jaws were sore! Couldnt eat much of it....the halibut was great though. Service was just OK. The spa can be great but they list that it is open until 9 PM but they automatically turn off the sauna and Hammam/steam room at 8 pm and the front desk had no idea how to turn them on. If it is open til 9 the equipment needs to be on til 9!
Classic old Chateau hotel and lovely grounds. Nice to be away from the crowds in Colmar. Nice Place.

United KingdomTo say we did not like it would be wrong but although I knew there was a separate cost for breakfast, it would be really great if it were included like many establishments of similar rating.
The food in the restaurant is absolutely fabulous. We went for the “menu saver” every course was better than previous. The chateau decor is tired but we cannot wait to return in 2 years when the renovations are completed, we have high expectations.

Lovely quiet location, fabulous room with painted ceiling. It looked like a room in a palace. Outdoor and indoor pool. Excellent restaurant with great views.

United KingdomA return after 18 years. Disappointing. Outhouse room stuck in 70's. Clearly in need of modern revamp. Evening meal was OK. But not fine dining. Lazy cooking. Hotel in need of a new Chef.

GermanyShower was tough to use. I am tall and I would have to sit in the tub to shower. They had nice tall ones in the Spa.
Had a nice visit, we did an upgraded room and it was large. Rooms were quiet, warm and nicely decorated. Shower was tough to use, I am tall so I would have to sit in the tub to shower. Room price was pretty expensive. Had great views and not to far from a little town.

Beautiful Chateau to be used as a base to visit all of Alsace, When there MAKE SURE you go to Restaurant " a la Grappe" The most amazing food. The chateau itself is nice, but the rooms need a bit of facelift, but it did not take away from the experience of staying in a Chateau. Loved it.

NetherlandsThe bed was a bit short for tall people (1.80+), our feet stuck out. Unfortunately the outside pool was closed, even in the middle of summer.
Received an upgrade from the Pavillion to a room in the main building. Facilities in the room were ok, amazing views from our window. We could hear some minor noise from the hallway and other rooms at times, but that's only logical in a relatively old chateau. Spa is somewhat small but when we were there it was just enough. Dinner at Les Tommeries is a must!

United KingdomNothing in particular.
The location in Alsace, set next to vineyards and within an easy drive of a number of very pretty Alsatian towns, is very good. Easy to get to from main roads and the motorway. The restaurant is also very good and with a fine wine list.
