There were plenty of places to eat nearby, which helps make up for the fact that the restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening

Excellently situated. Small but decent room with a comfortable bed. Welcome from staff was warm and friendly.

While the room seemed fairly clean, unfortunately the hotel seems fairly run down with dirty carpets & miscellaneous items in the corridors as an example. It was a bit Fawlty Towers. We were also woken up very early by numerous cockerels crowing very loudly & consistently - they live in a pen right outside the hotel.

    The staff were very welcoming.

Hotel is next to the motorway and ideal for a stopover. The restaurant was good and they had a good selection of beers.

Shower not working. Bath plug broken. Moving bedrooms at 10pm when we discovered no shower or bath working. Mattresses were worn out. No hairdryer present. Cockerels crowing outside window at 3. A. M onwards. Would never ever stay there again. We are entitled to a refund from booking through your recommendation.

It was not the first time that I have stayed here; it offers real value for money and the cuisine covers an extensive range, from basic hamburgers to well-presented mains; haut-cuisine it is not but very tasty. The Friday evening that we stayed the restaurant was reasonably full with ;local diners. The rooms are basic, but comfortable, and the hotel is well situated for those travellers who are not in a great hurry, being 3 hours from Calais/Coquelles and 9 hours from Monaco! The old town of Laon, with its magnificent cathedral and 18th century architecture - La Montagne Coronnée - is very well worth a visit.

Staff was helpful and friendly. Spoke very little English, but then I speak very little French, still we managed to communicate. If you're looking for middle-of-the-historic city, this isn't the place you want. But if you are taking in other sites, willing to drive and park in a tight old city street net about 15 minuets away it will work. Don't miss the Cathedral and the old town. Traveling alone and just needed a clean, quiet, place so that I could drive to historic spots. This place offered that.

I would prefer a lift to the upper floor, but the night porter was happy to carry my bag. There was no tea making facility in the room. I would have liked an evening meal but this is not available on Sundays. I did not have breakfast.

This hotel is well positioned near the motorway E17. I have stayed here in the past, about 20 years ago. It is getting shabby but my room was clean with a new carpet and a large comfortable bed. I arrived at my estimated time and was greeted by name by the friendly receptionist. The bathroom had a good sized bath which I prefer to a shower after a long drive. The price was less than their published tariff, and the wi-fi worked.

The room was rather hot and the aircon didn't work, but there was a freestanding fan which did work.

The staff were very friendly at both the reception and the dining room; the room was spacious and the bed very comfortable and clean (superior double); the bathroom adequate - plenty of towels, albeit a little thin. The dinner was good and the wine very acceptable after a long day's travel. Breakfast, too was perfectly good - we were not expecting culinary excellence here! We travelled with our dog who was welcomed, and there was a big grassy space to exercise her. Worked well for us.

The place has not changed significantly since the last time I visited in 1999. It is somewhat worse for wear. Noticed quite a bit of Black Mold growing on the WC ceiling. They still have not installed showers; it is bath only. Furnishings are very spartan. I would rate this facility a 1 or 2 star basically for price.

Breakfast was more self-service than usual. Coffee came from a machine. There is no breakfast room as such - tables are set out in the adjacent bar-restaurant. All pretty functional, though the receptionist was helpful.

The hotel is easily reached by car. Though it is out of town, it has a bar-restaurant attached so one does not have to go far for a meal.

Too far from the town to walk (fed up with being in the car all day) Very expensive breakfast

Good location - for a motorway stop-over. Very quiet and comfortable Restaurant looked good - but we chose a short walk to eat somewhere else.

There was no iron, the bathroom could smell much nicer, there could be a proper coffee maker, an iron board, the wi fi/internet system was poor.

The breakfast was alright, location ok, hotel reasonable

Bathroom appalling. Tried to discover how air conditioning worked but told available staff would not be on duty until following morning. Smell of stale cigarettes pervaded.

Nearby medieval town. Evening meal surprisingly good but Alsation wine terrible.
