I guess the decorations are a little strange and somewhere not really nice, they should be improved, but this is my taste.

The window in our room appeared not to fit too well. We had a ground floor room, and although the road adjacent was very small it was also very busy and therefore very noisy from early morning, including the refuse collection at 5.45am. I would avoid this room (Room 002). We were told the room was an upgrade, but the traffic noise was unfortunate. However, there was no noise from adjoining rooms. All hotel owners/managers would benefit from sleeping in each of their rooms occasionally. Also it would have been useful to have been taken to the room rather than directed there, as on the morning we were leaving I found what I think could have been air con, which would have been helpful to have had pointed out as we were lucky enough to have very warm weather and couldn't have the window open due to the traffic noise. One other comment, you may wish to research and book a restaurant before you arrive. It was very busy in town, and as it was late season all the restaurants appear not to open every day.

The welcome was very good, maps were given which was helpful, a very modern interior for a very old looking building. Breakfast was excellent, hot and cold choices. Lounge area near to reception was very welcome and helpful for meeting the rest of our party. Public parking nearby (payable) or free parking a short walk away just outside the ramparts. Right in the centre of town. Large bathroom with a flat floor/wet-room shower type arrangement.

The room given was in front of the paved road street; hence, that was quite noisy when cars were driving by I admit I'm difficult sleeper, and must pay attention for net booking there

The sauna was not for all-hours use. This was a bit of an issue as we wanted to use the sauna/spa area around 10pm and the night reception turned us down.

We were upgraded to a full suite. The room was quite nice, and they accommodated my special request for two twin beds. There was paid parking available at the hotel as well, which was helpful as we traveled by car.

The shower had a few inches of wall without a curtain so even if you stand in the very corner with the shower head aimed at the corner wall, it will still pour out onto the floor. Learned to shower with my elbows tucked in so the water didn't directly slide out onto the floor. There wasn't a holder for the shower handle to sit in the bathtub either. It was a challenge to say the least and I'm a very tiny person. Toilet was in a separate closet across from the shower room with doors that hit each other. Both were not pictured on the hotel bookings and I scour the photos for decent bathrooms. The windows are not strongly sealed so it sounds as though you have the window cracked open, mostly quiet town though.

Great location with parking behind the hotel along with Les Ramparts free parking lot nearby. Friendly staff. Excellent Breakfast, one of the best we've had during our travels. Clean hotel, room was clean, smaller than expected and pictured in booking. Very comfortable bed with perfect pillows, not the very flat Euro ones. Our stay was in the end of November. Very warm & comfortable room, hot water in the shower. Lighting in the bathroom was also good. The breakfast spread made up for the bad shower. A great spread of French cheese, meats, breads, yogurts & toppings, patisserie items, scrambled eggs & bacon. Great coffee. Fantastic start or end to the trip!

Bathroom and toilet could benefit from some renovation

This is a wonderful 4* hotel in the very centre of Obernai. Our Exclusive Family room was very spacious - with separate bedroom and living room. Soundproofing was good, which was valuable given that the cathedral bell and the clock tower start chiming as of 7am. The beds are comfy. There's a reasonably priced public parking nearby or you can park in the hotel garage.
