How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewI don't think this firm exists. The address was part of a collection of several blocks of flats in an area of tower blocks. I could find no entrance. When I phoned and spoke they sent me a very brief message that they no longer rent rooms. I had the standard Booking.com response to my payment as with the next one. I next booked and paid for Hotel d'Orleans, Rue de Lune, Paris. Rue de Lune does not exist. Perhaps it was renamed Rue d 'Aboukir which is in the place on such map(s) where Rue de Lune is shown. I walked for 2 HOURS trying to find it! I am a level 3 rewards client. Now 2 frauds! Was it a coincidence that both frauds happened in FRANCE? If some people approaching you are FRAUDSTERS you have a very serious problem with your business model. 🥶

I travelled to France to begin my studies and was apartment scammed. As spending 100€/night for a hotel was out of my budget, I went to the closest and cheapest place I found at the time. Please keep in mind that I was with a huge backpack, a small suitcase filled with books, and another huge suitcase with clothes and shoes for the winter season weighing ~30 kg with no one to help me in this city (I'm a lady). I saw the bad reviews before coming. One of them claimed "You shouldn't be paying more than 15€ per night for this place" and I couldn't agree more. Those giving 10/10 are fake. It is a 32-floor building with the entry code 5943. I remember some guests knocking on the door with ID cards and cash asking the receptionist to let in to spend a night there, but she denied. Only the online payments are accepted. I must note that on the website the information represented is false - there are 10 beds in total, not 6. There is just one room, no kitchen, a toilet room, and a shower with a sink. If you have soap and toilet paper then it is your lucky day. I remember I asked to borrow a spoon, so she gave me a wooden one that was dirty. No shelves or lockers. I was sleeping with my bag with all the documents in it next to my head. The owner did not speak English. And when you are absent she touches your things and hides them under a curtain for instance. The hygiene here is VERY QUESTIONABLE. The reason it is called "Dormir à Paris" is because you are supposed to come here just to sleep and nothing else. I do not want to judge because who knows perhaps I will live in such place again, but if I was her I would be really ashamed for welcoming people in such conditions and overall behaviour. The woman does not care about you enjoying your stay, but money only. As I spent over a week there I was hurt when she yelled at me for not checking out before 11 a.m.

Verified reviewThe shower was hot but short. With 10 people and 1 shower short showers were tequired
Almost everything. The property is falsely advertised. There are 10 beds not 6 in a very cramped space. There is 1 toilet and 1 shower. The bed linen bottom sheet is not changed. The pillows are not cleaned. The floors may be mopped but never properly cleaned. The shower in the picture is for private use and is not part of the facilities provided Booking should follow up with the paris authorities As this property is not registered to provide accomodate and would not pass a health check. Many people left when they saw the premises. But the booking is non refundable.

Verified reviewNothing. It was scary. The worst place I have Ben to in my life. I was afraid someone will rob me or and it was so dirty and old I run away only after I found whatever free place in booking. No sign it’s a rented property anywhere. Bathroom with flies flying around. Looks like slums.

This is a private residence, and a woman has arranged five bunk beds in the living room of her house. The landlord doesn't allow guests to turn on the lights for fear of wasting electricity, and keeps stressing that the electricity bill is very expensive. The sheets and quilts were not changed, there were no facilities, and the room was very dirty.

Verified reviewHard to say: escape the classic Paris and stay in a tower with a spectacular view.
The place is packed with beds, there is no where to sit, the shower creates a cold drizzle, the toilet ist often clogged (the owner kindly asked us to go to the toilet in the nearby supermarket), the kitchen was dirty and you don’t feel like you’re supposed to be there. I know it’s Paris, but you really shouldn’t pay more than 15 Euros per night for this.

It is a horrible rat hole. If you have extra 10 bucks, spend somewhere else it and do not come here. The place is impossible to find. The phone listed is not in service. This is as bad as it gets.
