Disappointed that no kettle available in Junior Suite. Most hotels provide coffee/tea facilities for guests who are not interested in having a set breakfast. Small issue but unusual situation for seasoned travellers.

Although I’d booked a junior suite for two nights, it was a pokey cellar, with little light and little or no space to walk around the bed. The bathroom was a joke. The toilet and shower were so close that you couldn’t open the shower door if someone was on the loo! Ithe Bath wasn’t wide enough to reasonably sit in. Although a no smoking room, there were also cigarette burns in the sofa and stool. Storage was also a joke. We had a small, about a metre and a half wide, dressing table draw for storage, then about a similar length hanging space in what was the only wardrobe. The wardrobe door didn’t close properly when the door was shut! The advertisement suggested that it was a family run establishment. There was just desk staff available and it appears the family own several hotels in the area. We asked about eating in the restaurant but they didn’t have one and only served breakfast at €15 each. The advert suggested gourmet cooking classes, which appears to be a cover up with regard to their culinary offering! It was a very bad experience!

The staff and location were fine.

For the huge price the bedroom and the bathroom were tiny and not generously equipped. There was not even a chair to relax in in the bedroom, not that it could be fitted it. Nothing like the photos on the website which led us to believe we would be purchasing a good standard and comfortable room rather than a cubby hole. This is in the context of us having spent the previous 3 weeks in Spain in 4 and 5 star hotels.

Location superb. Staff very nice but not proactive in their advice.

There were no people to help with the luggage at any time. There was no bar service during the afternoon; there was no restaurant at night, the hotel does not serve even a snack and the employee simply tells the clients (recklessly) that you should get dinner by yourself in any place inside the City.

It was supposed to be a pay nothing until you stay offer but they charged me for one of the 2 nights 6 months ahead of our stay which was disappointing. It was not reversed despite a call to booking.com. I don't think this is honourable and is the first time this has occurred with any hotel I have booked on the site. The junior suite is more compact than it appears in the photographs and there is not much space at the sides of the room.

Comfy bed and large double shower. The outside terrace of our room was good to relax in. The greatest feature is the location literally just outside the city walls , the bar area gives you a fantastic view and really connects you to Carcassonne. The breakfast was great and the staff gave exemplary service.

Lack of tea/coffee making in room.

Superb location overlooking the walls of the old chateau. The hotel staff were very welcoming and efficient with English spoken. The hotel was clean throughout and decor fresh and modern. You are paying for the location here but it is worth it as you are just across the road from the entrance to the old walled chateau with a good variety of restaurants. To pay for parking is a complete insult for this style of hotel, you pay enough for the room. Also staff did not say on arrival there would be a charge for parking which is poor. Rooms v small, not good value for price; Shower like a phone box which you can't turn round in because so small. No mini bar in the room Not enough accessories/towels ie no flannel to wash your face No gestures or extras to make you feel you have value for what you pay - breakfast not included, parking extra, no one at pool to give you towels etc etc - leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Super style and luxury quality of room, fixtures and property. All very well thought out. Perfect location just across street from the walls to the medieval city, but private and quiet. Staying with in the walls might seem nice, but can't drive direct and the crowds of tourists are like Disneyland, while du Chateau has access and views with style and luxury. See above re room. That was a second one - the first was awful. Our room was very dark, with dark furnishings and wall but maybe that was indicative of that area. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room which to me is a basic. No restaurant on site other than breakfast but there were lots of restaurants just a few minutes walk away. Car parking and breakfast was extra per night which all adds up when you are paying a lot for your room in the first place.

It was a special treat for us to stay at this expensive hotel and I don't really think it lived up to its reputation. We had a junior suite but I would have classed this instead as a reasonably large bedroom. The location was excellent right next to La Cite and all the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good, very substantial and it was lovely to have an outdoor pool on site.

Went on Christmas time, most restaurants in Carcassone were closed and the hotel only has a cafe-bar where they don't offer food or proper snacks. We were offered some canned french food and my partner passed all night and all day at the toilet. Also,we love dogs and it was really nice that they had a dog as a mascot but please please do shower him every now and then. It's not the dogs fault if they are not being taken care of and I ve read complaints from other clients calling them "stinky"...which is not fair for the dogs! One last thing, the spa was a major reason we booked this hotel but they had no availability for all the 3 days we stayed.

Breakfast was great, the rooms were nice and tastefully decorated. Most of the staff was very helpful and nice.

I misread (my fault) the description so that I thought ordering a junior suite for 320 Eur per night + parking + breakfast would give us a room with a terrace next to the swimming pool - but the room was 1) not a suite. It was just a 3-bed room not even with a table, no chairs (!!!) etc. 2) The room was not at the swimming pool but at the far end of a dusty gravel car part which we had to cross to get to i.e. breakfast. 3)The room was dug partly into the rock behind and so it unfortunately had a faint smell of cellar. AND the room had no window - one could only let the door stay open (all night - to sleep in fairly fresh air.). Also the breakfast was far below basic - and the normally famous french bread was stone cold and on the first morning as tough as were it from the day before. We even had breakfast early where it should have been fresh and crispy... Two tiny slices of ham were rolled served with two even smaller pieces of cheese and one time I had to find mine under my wife's dish set on the table... There was no variation at all in the food during our 4 day stay. Besides the breakfast was accompanied by a couple of not-so-charming dogs working in and out at will - and on rainy days they were smelling like - ah - wet dogs...

The fact the cheaper sister hotel also uses the pool; going against paying a premium price for a Boutique hotel. There were kids running around. The car parking was changed on top. The room felt damp and there were numerous mousitoes in the room when we arrived.

The room was unbelievably small and cramped. I had to hop onto the bed so my husband could pass to get to the bathroom. The staff were professional, but lacked that special warmth that truly makes for a happy stay. To be honest...I felt ripped off by having paid so much for what I thought was a very mediocre experience.

Location. The location of this hotel is superb. To have access to the castle late at night when all the visitors are gone is great. The decor of the hotel is also lovely, and all those important things like showers, internet worked well.

Room was a little small and dark. Nowhere to sit and relax in the hotel - although the outdoor area is very nice, so it's no problem as long as weather is good

Fab location, great breakfast, lovely outdoor area and pool. Comfortable, well appointed room and bathroom
