Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThere is no real luxury in this hotel, but this is what we selected, especially also while having our puppy dog joining us, so in fact all positive!
the receptionist Mrs Marie and her lovely cat Bella welcomed us warmly even while we were late (around 9pm, she just waited for us to arrive before closing off). She guided us quickly to our room and made our dog feel very comfortable as well (he even liked Bella the cat;o) and -even more important for us- arranged the one and only parking available on the Friday night (keeping in mind the Saturday morning market started already between 6 and 7am). Unfortunately we couldn't join the breakfast which was said by other guests to be very good! The hotel is located in down town and -as said- with the market right in front of the entrance. To our surprise however it was very quiet the saturday morning. We realized the French obviously are by far less noisy then the Spanish (we live in Spain)

SpainThe staff at reception was a little rude as she was trying to sell me breakfast and I said no as I have to leave early in the morning. She was disappointed and did not continue to explain what she wanted to say in English. Instead she gave instructions to my friend in French.

United KingdomI did find the hotel rather difficult to find. Reception is located on the first floor and entrance is by ringing a bell which summons the proprietress to come downstairs and open the door. There is a restaurant on the ground floor but this, as far as I know, is not part of the hotel. The hotel entrance is on the right hand side of the restaurant and set back so it is not easy to spot. However, this was a minor inconvenience.
The proprietress of the hotel manages the business alone but due to its size this is not a problem. When you visit some hotels there is a system in operation but I liked the fact that in this case one person exercised responsibility. There were some nice individual touches and I enjoyed breakfast especially the home made marmalade!

United StatesYOU MUST TELL PEOPLE THERE IS A CAT IN THE PROPERTY. I'm allergic and I spent the evening popping tablets and huffing on my emergency inhaler. When I politely suggested the owner list this on booking.com, she told me it was pollen, dismissed me and didn't say goodbye. I know what my cat allergies feel like.
Great location in the heart of town. Basic, but clean.

Estonia* There was a fan in the room but no aircon. I cannot use fan because it makes me feel sick; thus, it got very hot in the room in this time of the heat wave. * Outside, there were some terrible noises at 5:15 in the morning -- almost the sound of a house being taken down.
* Central location in the town. * I was able to check in as soon as I arrived (which was several hours earlier than the check in time in my booking confirmation). * Comfortable bed. * Clean bathroom.

SwitzerlandRoom (top floor) was facing another building, overlooking the main street, so not as bright as it could be hoped.
On the main street, which was good for finding the property near the viaRhona. However also noisy in the early mornings (and could be in normal evenings too). Good sized room, with small shower/WC room too. Secure, indoor cycle storage and nearby patisserie and restaurants (as well as the hotel's own offerings)
