There was no tea making facilities in the room or fridge with cold drinks. We were told that the car park had headroom of 4 metres and when we went into the car park is was 2 meters, very tight and could have caused major damage to our car which is a Range Rover discovery!

The room is slightly little, but especially the bathroom is too small.

The location is very good, near Place Carnot, with the possibility to reach the historic center with a pleasant pedestrian street. Also, the recaption is available 24/7 and the level of cleanness of the room is excellent. Finally, the breakfast offers good products.

This was November, and the only way to cool our room down was to open a window, which allowed street noise in along with the cool air. (Our experience is that hotels typically prohibit Air Conditioning from being turned on in the winter months, and this one was no exception.) We were a bit disappointed that our reserved parking spot required us to move the car by noon (same as check out time of the room.) The alternative public parking option ("Perrache") suggested by the front desk staff was a bit intimidating, and we chose not to attempt parking in that multi-purpose facility. Bottom line: for us, it was challenging to drive and park in the dense area around the hotel.

The hotel was in a good location for walking around the heart of Lyon. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The lobby was attractive. We reserved a parking spot (for additional cost) which was extremely valuable since we arrived around midnight, and parking on the street was challenging.

The breakfasts were good, but they ran out of several items and didn’t replace them quickly. The dining room was tight quarters, but clean and comfortable. Same with the rooms - quite small, but clean and the beds were comfortable.

The bathroom was very small (ca 2 square metres) and basically a plastic box mounted in a corner. Everything worked fine, but the complete floor was wet after taking a shower. Although on a relatively quiet street, there was quite a bit of traffic noise early in the morning from delivery and refuse trucks.

Staff were very helpful. I asked for restaurant recommendations and received a handwritten list of 4 or 5 establishments. The top one was one I had seen myself when googling. I went there and was very satisfied (except I ate too much). The location of the hotel was also good, being close to railway station and pedestrian precinct. There was also a good breakfast served from 6 am, which suited me perfectly to catch an early train.

It was all good!

This was a great and affordable place to stay. I was travelling with my mom (senior) and aunt (late 50's). They don't require extravagant accommodations, but do have very high expectations of cleanliness and being in a safe location- Hotel Simplon checked both boxes. It was nice that it had a little bit of character too. The staff were friendly and I will be recommending this hotel to friends who are travelling to Lyon.

Location was great, lovely hotel and welcoming staff. It has a nice character to it, and we really enjoyed our stay. The room was a bit small for us (2 adults + 1 toddler) but it was modern, clean and well maintained. I would definitely book again in this hotel the next time I go to Lyon.

The property is just a few steps away from a metro/tram station (Perrache) as well as from a beautiful square with many restaurants, cafes, and bar. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and they also provided me a travel plug adapter for free.

Bathroom too small, impossible have a shower. Breakfast good, but at a cost of 14 euros per person a bit expensive for what it offers.

Nice Staff, excellent position and room cleaning. Also very comfortable mattress and good soundproofing.
