A classy experience. A 17th century Chateau producing premier crus Sauterne! Our room was huge and beautiful decorated. The view of the vineyards from our window was idyllic. The staff were attentive but not overly intrusive. Their recommended restaurant was just what we wanted. Once convinced our dog was well behaved they did not demand he remain on the lead. A real gem and we hope to return when hopefully the weather will less inclement.

The shower was in the bathtub with nowhere to hang the water spout. The sides of the tub are very high and difficult to climb into.

Relais du Silence lives up to its name, the location, in the middle of vineyards, is so peaceful and restful. We stayed there on our way home from a car trip to Portugal and were so happy to relax and have a delicious dinner in the quaint village of Sauternes. Would definitely visit again with more time.

No bar or restaurant located on the chateaux, it was possible to get a bottle of wine, however, there was rarely any visible staff around to help. All restaurants in the immediate area were closed so had to travel 10km to the nearest one open. Also breakfast at €10 per person consisted of a croissant / yoghurt which we had to help outselves to, did not represent value for money.

Beautifully located on a vineyard with amazing views and spacious rooms.

Awful reception, we stayed in the rain and the cold while the receptionist was serving wine in the shop and even told us to bring the bags in the rain all the way back to the shop and wait there. Since he saw us parking in front of the shop he could have at least told us not to go to the reception...

Wonderful location, beautiful rooms and furnishings,...

None of us got much sleep overnight, due to the infestation of mosquitoes in the bedrooms. It really was very bad. When we complained the next morning we were told that the director didn't believe in insecticides or chemical deterrents. However, if I pay for a four-star hotel, I expect a four-star experience. One can still be "green" and keep unwanted pests at bay; why not use an organic, pyrethrum-based insecticide?

Wonderful location, beautiful rooms and furnishings, interesting (short) wine-tasting tour.

Very peaceful as promised. Large comfortable bedroom and excellent bathroom. Window over the vineyards. Loved that you could walk down to the auberge in the village for dinner. Reception were very helpful and booked the table for us whilst giving us a glass of sancerre. We had just driven from the airport and felt the holiday begin as soon as we arrived at the hotel. Would thoroughly recommend. extras

Very quiet (we were the only guests), friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful setting, yummy wines, great bathtub (no standing shower though). The walk into town or to the surrounding vineyards is short and easy. They also have a really lovely educational walk through their vineyards.
