How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewProperty is a perfect location close to the dam and George. The rooms were spacious and aircon was nice. Restaurant and pool were really nice. The staff were also lovely.
Unfortunately the bathroom did not have a shower as expected.

Verified reviewGreat location with super easy parking. You’re a short walk to a lovely town with some great dinner spots and we’ll located to explore Verdon. We had dinner once at the hotel and the food was brilliant! Very good - although options for children were very bland considering what’s on offer elsewhere nearby.
The staff are very bland. There is zero effort to make you feel special. Our air con was broken and they made us feel like it was our fault. Plus everything is extra - if you want to use the indoor pool they are charging almost €20 per person! That’s crazy for a family of four. Also the breakfast is almost the same cost! It’s such a huge expense that they do not warn you of before booking. We didn’t have the breakfast or use the pool.
Hello, We are sorry to read that your stay did not meet your expectations. Our team strives every day to welcome each guest with professionalism and kindness. We sincerely regret that this did not stand out to you, even though we find it difficult to understand what you meant by "make you feel special." Regarding the air conditioning, the issue was reported and resolved within thirty minutes — something you failed to mention. At no point did we suggest you were responsible for the problem. It is unfortunate to make a public accusation against our staff that is both inaccurate and unfair. As for the SPA (which is not just an indoor pool), access is indeed subject to an extra charge, as clearly stated during booking — on Booking.com, our website, and all other platforms. Guests staying at the hotel benefit from a preferential rate of €15 per day, which is well below the average price for similar facilities in France. It is unfortunate that this information, which was provided upon your arrival, was ignored. Moreover, you criticized the breakfast without even seeing or trying it, which we find quite unfair. We wish you all the best. Sincerely, The Management.

Verified reviewThe pool was ok,
We were disappointed to find that access to the spa required an additional payment, which we chose not to do. The room itself was extremely dated and in need of refurbishment. We arrived 30 minutes before check-in after an 8-hour drive; although our room was ready, the receptionist refused to give us the keys until the exact check-in time because she could not reach the cleaners as there is no way she could call them!. This felt unnecessarily rigid and unhelpful, especially as we were left waiting outside the door for half an hour. On top of this, the owner criticised the Alain Ducasse restaurant nearby as being overrated and too fancy. We went anyway, and had an excellent experience with superb food and outstanding service. Overall, our stay at the hotel was underwhelming and did not meet expectations.
Hello, We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. Regarding the room, please note that it is one of those recently renovated. However, from the moment of your arrival, we understood that our establishment likely did not meet your criteria, given the nature of your comments. Your expectations seem more aligned with the standards of 5-star hotels or prestigious establishments, which we do not claim to be. Furthermore, your comment about the local restaurant, in comparison to Alain Ducasse’s, comes across as somewhat condescending. It is worth mentioning that the owner of the establishment worked closely with Mr. Ducasse for many years and still maintains a good relationship with him. Therefore, it is not a matter of lacking appreciation, but rather an opinion shared by several guests that there are alternatives in Moustiers which are equally high-quality and sometimes more affordable. Regarding the spa fee (€15 per person per day), we understand that everyone has their own sensitivity to pricing. However, the rate we offer is well below the average for this type of service in France. It may therefore seem surprising to find this price excessive, especially when choosing to dine at a gourmet restaurant. As for your arrival, it took place at 1:30 p.m., while our rooms are available from 3:00 p.m., as clearly indicated on all our communication materials and booking platforms. It is imperative to wait for the housekeeping team’s go-ahead before handing over the keys, in order to ensure proper check-in conditions. During peak periods, early check-ins are generally not possible as the entire building must be cleaned. You were invited to wait comfortably in the lounge — an offer you declined, preferring instead to wait in the hallway outside the door. Lastly, we regret that you were unable to appreciate certain aspects of your stay. It is important to note that despite some of your remarks being rather disparaging, our entire team remained available, courteous, and professional at all times. We wish you the best in finding establishments better suited to your expectations for your future travels. Sincerely, The Management

Verified reviewIn a good location a short drive from the lake and entrance to the gorge. We hired an electric boat to go up the navigable part of the river which was so beautiful we went up again on our own paddle boards and inflatable dinghy. The drive along the gorge is mile after mile of stunning scenery. The on-site shop was very useful to stock up, and the on-site pizza restaurant was a tasty and cheaper alternative to the main restaurant. The hotel is also a short drive to the local town which is full of nice restaurants. The rooms were clean and spacious with good air conditioning
Many of the photographs on booking.com show the indoor pool and hot tub. It was not clear to us until we checked in that we would have to pay a large fee per person, per day, to use the indoor pool area, even if we only wanted to go for a 10 minute swim. Perhaps not surprisingly we never saw anyone in there during our stay, everybody only used the outdoor pool which was free but smaller.

The place is out dated ...it needs to be updated especially the bathroom. There was corroded taps humidity on the walls. The shower without a sliding door or curtain, and the bathroom door needs a good paint. Floors where not so clean either.
Hello, I'm so sorry to hear you slept in the bathroom! Given how important a shower is to you, you promptly requested it. Otherwise, how did you find the rest of the room? Sincerely, Cédric Orange

Verified reviewThe staff was very friendly and always open for a bit of pleasant chit-chat, and the hotel is at a great location, just outside the little village and next to the lake. The beds were comfortable and the room of a very good size.
I would have appreciated better communication about the price for the indoor pool and the fitness area. Furthermore, the breakfast was rather sad for 16€. Good enough if you're just staying the night and spending the rest of the day outside.
Hello, We could make a package, like many hotels, which would impose all the services on all our customers. We preferred to just put the room and let each customer choose to compose their stay as they wish. Our room rate is 90 € at the moment, all the extras are mentioned and very clear on booking. Now, I don't think that in France, you have 3-star establishments that offer for 90 €, the room, breakfast, the spa and the restaurant meals. Best regards Orange Cédric
