How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewClean. Great quiet location. Lovely staff.(super helpful and friendly) Comfy pillows and room. Secure parking. Picturesque building and small terrace.
Some small details need sorting for a 4*, 250euro per night hotel. Better choice of tea and coffee in room; shower that doesnt leak spectacularly; better coffee and a supply of croissants that dont run out by 9am. Small things that could really make a difference to what calls itself a 4 star hotel.
Hello, Thank you for this detailed comment. We are glad that you enjoyed our calm and confortable hotel. We will take into account the details you have brought up to our attention. Kind regards, The Reception

Verified reviewRoom was clean and beds very comfortable. On-site parking.
Didn’t have breakfast as would have been very expensive for 5 of us.

Verified reviewComfy and good room size. Automatically upgraded us as they had a spare room available. Very clean and nice robes.
Didn’t realise you had to reserve parking and that it is €16 for a space. We parked outside for free as we arrived after 6pm and left before 9am. Didn’t end up paying for breakfast as €18 is steep when you just want a coffee and a croissant.

The coffee at breakfast: not great and from a machine.

Verified reviewSecure, allocated parking space, friendly welcome, clean and comfortable bedroom with good size bathroom, soft towels and pleasant toiletries, minibar and complimentary water
Breakfast was varied but with heavy emphasis on sweet pastries and no fresh fruit. The quality of the coffee from the automated machine was poor, no other facilities so felt it wasn't good value for money

Verified reviewThe hotel had changed owners and name. This sounded very recent and has been a 4 star hotel. We had a compact room with a lovely bed with fresh white linen. It had a separate toilet and shower room which was useful. It had big windows which opened and looked out onto the nice street. We were able to walk to the town centre square, bars and restaurants and the cathedral, and a lovely park area close to the river/canal with cruisers and a safe area for children to kayak. There was coffee and tea provided in the room.
There was no armchair in the room, only a soft padded stool.

Verified reviewWell maintained facilities, quiet location.
The hotel consists of two parts: The main building and a newer building annex, motel-style. The rooms in this add-on are ridiculously small, a cruel joke. The upscale larger rooms in the main building cannot be booked on online platforms like booking.com and are probably reserved for "special, in-the-know" clientele not the commoners on the internet. No service to talk of. Car parking was not available.
Dear Sir, We are sincerely deeply sorry to hear about your discontent. The rooms of the annex are of diverse sizes, and so are the ones in the main building. Maison Lia does not prioritize its regular clientele and we try our best to treat every single client equally. If one has a specific need in terms of room sizes or preference for the main building, one can always come to the reception desk upon or after arrival, or send us a message via booking (or email) prior to arriving. We always make sure that our clients are satisfied with their room and go as far as switching rooms if asked, if we have availability. As for the parking lot, we only have 11 spots. That is why parking has to be booked beforehand (via booking message, email or call). If we do have spots left on the day of arrival, we gladly ask our clients if they need one when they check-in. On the behalf of the entire team, I sincerely apologize and I invite you to come back someday if you are in the area, to enjoy a bigger room (perhaps in the main building!). You would also enjoy our wonderful service, our gym and sauna, and our bar. Kind regards, Clara

Verified reviewThe location of the hotel is excellent and it has a very good and convenient parking. Clean and comfortable room in the new building. The bed could be a little more comfortable and the reason that I did not describe it a excellent is because there was no soap just shower and shampoo liquid and though the room was for two people there was only one water gratis.
The mattress
