Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesUnderstandable, but no outlets by beds
The location is excellent - much nicer than the other side of the river. The hotel is charming and comfortable, though a bit overstuffed with knickknacks. The garden is lovely. Breakfast nice but a bit high at 16 Euro.

NetherlandsThe interior is amazing. The swimming pool and garden were clean, quiet and lovely. The location is great; next to the river and a lot of things to do in the surrounding area. The room was small but nice and clean. We had a lovely time here.

CanadaI was relieved to have room air-conditioning as it got very hot, but the hotel doesn't control the weather! I often wish breakfasts were not so expensive (not just here), but still, it was a holiday...
The setting (with an expansive jardin) was beautiful, the room just fine (a little small), the staff (and particularly the owners) wonderful and the food to die for!!

United KingdomNo criticism of any note (bar closes a bit early but there are some bars along the riverside and in the town
Charming hotel by the riverside located off town square in a very pretty French town. Lovely characterful property. Staff very friendly and helpful. One of the best meals we had in France. Felt very lucky that on the night we stayed there was a festival in the town. Made for an unforgettable night

United KingdomWe rather regretted not planning to stay two nights.
A lovely, typically French hotel. Madame made us very welcome. We had dinner in the restaurant. It was exceptional. If you are looking for simple food, pizza, burgers etc this is not for you. But if you are looking for a memorable meal, full of flavour and different textures, this is a great place and , at 38 euros, I think that's correct, great value. We had not been to Montignac before. It's a lovely town and the hotel is perfectly located. Lots of free parking next to the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and will plan to return.

The hotel is located near the historic centre of the village; it is very easy to find. It is located near to restaurants, shops and other facilities. There are free car parks adjacent to hotel and easily accessible. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely comfortable with good facilities. The hotel itself is superb and is very pleasant with a wonderful ambiance. It has a large bar and restaurant, a terrace and other facilities. The breakfast on was lovely with a great choice of food and beverages. 11/10!

NetherlandsIt’s a boutique hotel, don’t expect a 30 squire foot walk-in shower.
In the middle of Montignac, with a private garden and pool, lies this gem. The breakfast en restaurant are great. The service is excellent, the owners do everything to make your stay the best possible.

United StatesWould have liked stronger light-bulbs. The reading lights by the beds were a bit too dim to read by comfortably. (1500+ lumens would have done it).
A perfect hotel, and better than we'd expected! Outdoor garden areas, friendly and discreet staff. A perfect location for exploring the Dordogne. Montignac itself is a charming town, running alongside the Vezere River and you can walk everywhere. Loads of restaurants, shops and charming places to sit alongside the river. Particular good points about the Hotel Roseraie: -Air-conditioning in our room!! A lifesaver as we spent a week in the heat wave (temps over 100 degrees). -NO piped music whatsoever in the hotel (only the birds)! -Lovely interior rooms, comfortable chairs, lots of books. -Wonderful breakfast (whatever your nationality!).

AustraliaIt was a little hard to find as the hotel is in a square hidden from the road. It may be hard to get parking in peak season.
A beautiful old mansion - well maintained - with large gardens and a pool, in the centre of Montignac. All the public rooms were charming, as was our bedroom. The hotel was quiet, the beds comfortable and the rooms well heated - we were there in Autumn. There was free public parking outside, and also on the river out back. Our hosts and the staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent with many food options. It was wonderful wandering around the town and exploring and we went to the Lascaux caves.
