Room a bit on the small side for the price Breakfast too expensive - didn't eat there

When arrived they refused our dog as too big apparently they only accept pets up to 4kg. booking.com it was noted Pets allowed. We were offered to stay paying an extra 15€ which we deemed unacceptable as we feel 'pets allowed' is pets allowed!! I've since looked again and if you scroll down yes it does say up to 4kg but this should be WRITTEN where it says 'pets allowed up to 4kg'. Also it states on Booking.com FREE PRIVATE PARKING...NO there was not....as it was bank holiday we were told you can park anywhere for free that day! NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL WITH THIS HOTEL.....CHARGED 42€ AND WE DID NOT STAY!

The heater was a little too hot, and we couldn't turn it off.

The room was fine, the bed comfortable. Great shower. The triple glass window sure cuts the street noise off, it is very quiet, even though it is located on a busy street, and by the train station. The hotel is conveniently located next to the old town and the fabulous market! Friendly staff.

Not so much the hotel but Saint Jean de Luz is actually dog unfriendly. You're not officially allowed to take your dog on the beach, on the almost inexistent green parts in town. Because we were out of season we ignored it and that seemed to be 'ok-ish' but for people traveling with dogs, you're better off finding an alternative place to stay and explore the basque coast.

For Saint Jean de Luz it's a perfectly good hotel and one that is not too expensive. And bonus for those who are staying there on a Thu/Fri/Sat - around the corner of the hotel is the cool Chez Renauld.

The noise between the rooms also some rooms are like on a labrinth or something like that so you need someone to can find it. It was dificult to find how to close the air conditioner because was hidden but finally found it.

The location, its in front of the train station so its good if you need the train, the croissants are really good.

Heavy duvet on bed completely inappropriate for august, and air conditioning set for no lower than 25 degrees, so uncomfortably hot. On second day of stay, staff doing room cleaning left our door wide open all day which we found on return in evening. Big security lapse, thankfully nothing missing. Sense that this hotel is just not trying very hard.

Room well equipped with kettle and minibar, which is rare in this area for this budget.

I'm having to search for anything negative so these are minor issues! The air-conditioning could perhaps have been a little quieter, but we were so glad to have it. Also, you need to be a little careful of the stairs - one or two of them are at different heights from the others, including one tiny one which took me by surprise! They are carpeted in a dark colour so it was not obvious at first glance.

Excellent location a stroll away from the centre of town, easy parking at the large train station carpark opposite the hotel, completely free of charge! We certainly were not disturbed by any train or traffic noise either, although we were at the rear of the hotel which may possibly make a difference. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed and air-conditioned room. Really good value for money. We used to have a favourite hotel in St. Jean de Luz, which then underwent a "facelift", lost a lot of its charm and character, and started charging luxury prices, but without the comfort of air-conditioning. Discovering Hôtel Colbert has made up for that disappointment and we will definitely return.

The attitude of the receptionist was poor when we tried to check in before booking through trip advisor. Our room was hot and stuffy as the air conditioning was not on. We had to leave the window open all night, but as the hotel is on a very busy main road, the noise from the constant traffic made sleeping extremely difficult. We would not stay here again.

    The location was convenient.

It can all do with an overhaul, looking a bit tired. We stayed here 8 years ago and not much has changed. Quite a noisy road outside, and air conditioning unit also a bit noisy, but traffic disappears pretty early, and it didn't wake us in the morning.

Comfy bed, good bathroom with bath, well sound proofed. Mini bar, tea and coffee making tray very helpful.

Doesn't have car parking even though it was filtered for that. The celebrations outside the window prevented any sleep ALL NIGHT with no compensation and no possibility to move rooms. It seems Booking.Com guests get the worst rooms with these people. Beware!
