The staff were rude and unhelpful we were kept waiting at reception for 10 minutes with a baby while the receptionist chatted to her friend and ignored us. the room was uncomfortable and hugely overpriced. It was like a pontins chalet from the 60s that needed some massive updating. The room was boiling hot and there were no windows. Would NOT recommend.

It was a strangely impersonal experience. There was a wedding going on and perhaps that overstretched the staff. Anyway they were not as welcoming as expected. And a totally automated buffet breakfast was not inviting. The rather rambling site was full of flowers, but they looked as if they hadn't been dead-headed for weeks!

A pleasant and large garden room a comfy bed.

Didn't get any sleep as the mattress was far to hard and was all aching for a day! Also they were mean on toiletries in the bathroom. Not even a shower cap for the women. And also mean on tea and coffee. Was expecting a small fridge with cold drinks in bedroom!

Meal very tasty at their restaurant. Service impeccable by the waiter. Room lovely. Hotel situated in a beautiful little village close to the shops and creperies...Lovely room.

Nothing much in town! Which is why I guess everybody eats at the hotel restaurant (only open from 6pm-9pm for dinner) so if you're driving out to Mont Saint Michel then make sure you plan around that. It's a very very dark and quiet drive back at night.

Good for our purposes - Overnight stay whilst visiting Mont Saint Michel (40 mins drive away - would have liked to have stayed closer but not many options as we only booked a day or two in advance). Clean, spacious room. Heated towel rack. Swimming pool Outdoor parking - gate closes at night but accessible by code. Bakery across the road was great

We have no negative comments. This is hotel is individual and distinct in style and gave a very French feel to our stay.

Friendly and helpful service even though our French is less than 'fluent' the staff went out of their way to help us and a number of staff spoke English sufficiently well. The Restaurant was excellent and the evening meal delicious and to a very high level - excellent Chef. Located in a typically French village.

Since our last visit, two years ago, it has been updated and modernised. I preferred the previous decor, which I found more like a traditional French Hotel and matched exactly my mental picture of a hotel called the Lion d'Or. It now feels more like part of a chain. There's nothing wrong with any of it, it's still a comfortable stay, this is just my personal disappointment. I felt like I could have been staying in any generic modern hotel. Would still go back though, and would certainly recommend it.

We find it very convenient for Mont St. Michel and for the port of Cherbourg, but, beyond that, it's a lovely town and a lovely hotel with good facilities and helpful staff and good parking.

Extremely pleasant stay here whilst passing through on a motorbike trip. Staff were all very friendly and inviting (especially the young barman from Corsica!) The rooms were excellent; good size, comfortable and clean. Check out isn't until 11am which is great if you need a proper rest. Dinner was excellent; quite a fancy menu (it's France, no bangers and mash here!) but still something for everyone, unless you're seriously fussy, in which case best you go find a McDonalds. Decent car park (for fellow bikers). The town itself was equally pleasant. Overall value for a huge room, a proper evening meal and a few drinks was amazing. British hotels should take note! To be honest I can't fault it and would gladly stay here again.
