No air con or fan in room, and no insect mesh over windows so we couldn’t leave the window open. This meant the room was very hot and stuffy and sleep quality not as good as it could be. No bedside plugs for charging. There was only one plug socket available which made it hard to keep devices charged.

The bathroom was in dire need of a makeover and some TLC, as the fittings were aged.

The setting was absolutely gorgeous. Albeit a bit outside of the town centre, its location is just fine if you have a car and its beautiful setting more than compensates for it. The gardens were beautifully kept and we were surrounded by nature. The building was traditional and solid and the rooms were renovated. The room had a kitchenette which came in very handy. Staff was friendly and helpful.

It is a beautiful property on well kept beautiful land. The interior and exterior design is sympathetic to the original old building but it has been modernised to accommodate all necessities and mod cons. Considering that it's a self catering property, the kitchen equipment was definitely NOT satisfactory. I don't expect a lot but not providing any pan? Frying eggs in a big pot was rather a challenge. Also, a very limited amount of cleaning products. If you expect hotel guests to keep the room clean, at least provide enough cleaning supplies. One more point - I booked the hotel with option of paying at the property and upon arrival I was told by the receptionist that my card had been charged for the stay. I intended to pay for my room with cash as I had exchanged currency, so that wasn't really convenient.

The building looks simply amazing. Exterior is just incredible, especially in the sunset. You can hear cars from the busy road nearby but it's still a lovely place to stay. There's plenty free parking on site.

We originally booked a smaller upstairs room but found this a bit dark so chose to pay the difference and go for a ground floor apartment, which was very comfortable with an outdoor space to eat or relax. The place is located close to the city and easily reachable by bus or bike - or on foot. The parking area was really big and safe. The location is surrounded by trees and small meadow, there is a fountain and it is a very quiet surrounding in a whole. The room was equipped with everything you would need to prepare some small dinner and everything was clean. The fridge was big enough for a lot of food and also very clean. The bathroom was clean, nice and occupied with towels and some toiletries. Breakfast was nice and included freshly-squeezed orange juice. There were no eggs, vegetables or other fruits, but a lot of good-quality bread and viennoiserie and various marmelades, honney or nougat cream. Also, milk an cereals were available and the coffee was quite nice. The breakfast location was very beautiful with a view around the park. The stuff was very friendly and helpful and particularly polite.

The young ladies at the front desk were absolutely charming and helpful. I did not get their names, but one of them very kindly researched wineries that served dinner and found the perfect one for me. Do visit La Coste if you want a treat dining outside on their 'La Terrasse' in the evenings from 7-9pm with a jazz combo. The onion tart is fantastic! Excellent last evening in France about a 30 minute drive from the hotel above the tourist crush of Aix-en-Provence. Again, the young ladies at the desk were just wonderful.

Location is a little too remote from the town centre, 30+ mins walk away, and tucked away across the autoroute (but good bus service). You can hear autoroute traffic in the background. We had to ask each time for individual dishwasher tablets - why? But this is scraping the barrel: we really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend especially for travellers with a car.

Comfortable and spacious studio with bed in mezzanine, lovely old building stylishly updated, good level of privacy with our own terrace. Friendly staff. Secured parking. On balance, it's good to be out of town, and there are nice, shady walks along the river Arc, which are mostly enjoyed only by locals.

No air conditioning, but did provide a fan, but the room was boiling and we had to keep the window open - which meant mosquito bites as we were very near a stream, so bring repellent. Little bit far out from town and definitely can't walk into town. Could get the bus down the road but last bus on a Sunday was 5pm, so we had to drive in or get an uber. This place would massively benefit from having a swimming pool.

The Bastide has been recently renovated and looks nice at a glance, but little thought seems to have been given to practicalities. A fan was provided but there was nowhere to plug it in (without unplugging the microwave). There was only one power socket available in a double room and it wasn't bedside so not very practical for a couple both with phones. There was no mesh on the windows to prevent bugs so we couldn't leave them open. The room (1st floor) was like a sauna, even with the fan on. Situated next to a leisure centre that blasts music and announcements over a loud speaker.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking in gated compound so it feels safe. Beautiful old building with nice gardens and fountains. Recommend the larger studios on ground floor that have outdoor seating.

The apartment might benefit from a little updating, but had all conveniences for self catering if needed.

La Bastide was a very comfortable, safe and quiet place to stay in an historic building. I wished that I had rented a car although there was a regular bus service into Aix. Staff very helpful.

Half an hour away from the airport made it perfect for an early flight . As has been mentioned it is near the autoroute but feels like a little oasis. We found it very quiet and comfortable . We enjoyed sitting on the terrace with a bottle of wine and a few nibbles purchased from a brilliant supermarket only 5 mintutes away in the car . We'd definitely stay here again !

Room was on the first floor and had only one small window which made the apartment very dark. There was also not air con - as temp was around 34 it did make the room very hot.

Apartment was roomy and clean and the cooking facilities were good. The apartment was about a 30 min walk from the centre of Aix en Provence but there was a bus stop almost outside. There was ample car parking and access from the main motor route was easy and quick.
