Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

We stayed for four nights in La Lanterne. The house is very authentic (old / original) and fits very well in the historic context of the city. Just half a day prior to our visit our host Meagan had redecorated some parts of the house; she did a great job, and we complemented her on that! ;-) The central courtyard in the house is very quiet and cozy. Our hosts, Meagan and her husband Tyler, did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible; breakfasts were excellent, and the late-evening-wine in the courtyard was delightful. Meagan and Tyler are the most perfect hosts you can wish for... Hopefully we will come back in the future to beautiful Sarlat, and in that case La Lanterne is our 'home', as it was for last 4 days...

United KingdomAmple breakfast and as many coffees as necessary in comfortable traditional French drawing room. Laura our host was fantastic, extremely friendly and helpful and always able to advise on local amenities./places of interest. No request was too much trouble. The Chambre is in the centre of Sarlat which is extremely interesting, has numerous restaurants within 5 minutes and has enormous markets on saturdays and a smaller market on wednesdays. L'Addresse restaurant on Rues Fenelon was outstanding. If you have a car, free parking is available 5 minutes walk away through a small park. Sarlat is fairly central for a number of excellent tourist spots, canoeing on the River Dordoigne, Castenaud, Grotte de Domme, Zooological Reserve Calviac being within 20-30 minutes drive, Gouffre de Padirac and Rocamadour about an hours drive east.

United StatesOur bathroom was remarkably small, however, I'm sure it's not easy renovating a 16thcentury house to have running water, electricity, and a bathroom for every bedroom. Our closet was very hard to get into. You couldn't actually open the doors all the way, and the railing around the stairwell was right where you needed to stand. We were there 2 nights, so we just didn't use the closet much.
I didn't expect the room to be perfect, after all this house was built in 1503. It was unique and pleasant. We had our own private staircase to an upstairs room with bath. It had a lovely open beam ceiling. The breakfast/sitting room downstairs was comfortably decorated in an old fashioned French style with a fireplace and tall old windows. Breakfasts were fine, not super fancy, but included eggs cooked to order and yummy fresh strawberries (It was strawberry season and wow were they good!). You enter the house through a small courtyard with plants all around and a large table. The location in Sarlat was perfect. It was a quiet sidestreet, but at the end of the short street you were in the center of Sarlat activity. We bought our dinner one night at a little booth, brought it home to our courtyard and had our own private dining room!

United StatesWe had the room which included 2 levels. The bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs. Loved how cute the room was but the stairs (the rope bannister was loose) could be a challenge for older folks.
This is a very cute property in the heart of Sarlat. The host (Laura) was extremely helpful. She walked up the hill to our car and had us pull into the alley to unload our luggage closer to the hotel. She then helped us find a free parking spot (the town was full with Ascension day holiday people). Laura had plenty of recommendations for places to eat and doing laundry etc. Laura also welcomed us in the common room with wine and took time to visit with us. The patio was cute and the view from our window was the church tower and it looked magical at night. Lovely patio area.

United StatesThe advantage of staying in a lovely historic hotel is the old world ambience. The disadvantage is navigating the parking outside the historic area, especially in the rain. While the “free parking” nearby was very hard to find, we figured it out for the second day.
Friendly thoughtful hosts, well appointed room, beautifully presented delicious breakfast for a reasonable extra fee. Nice restaurants nearby!

CanadaThough no fault of the owner, one must realize that some rooms are on two floors with very steep and narrow staircase to negotiate.

IrelandThe only thing was the lack of insulation from our neighbours room, we couldn't talk and laugh, because of that. Wall insulation is needed.

United StatesWe liked everything.
La Lanterne was a wonderful place to stay right in the middle of medieval Salat. The building dating from 1503 was now completely comfortable and charming. Hosts Jana and Noel made us feel right at home immediately with their welcoming glass of wine and delicious optional breakfasts. We stayed 3 nights to enjoy the Wednesday market, the truffle museum, and a walking tour of the medieval town. It was so nice to be able to sightsee and still drop back in “at home” to relax because La Lanterne was so perfectly located.
