How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The smell coming from the toilet was pretty bad I know it’s a common problem in hotels but I think it might be better if they put some kind of air freshener in the bathroom to help mitigate the issue

Verified reviewEverything was new, modern, clean, adapted, the room was quite big, as well as the bathroom, we could keep our luggage in a special storage. The telephone number for the client's attention works properly, they answer immediately. All codes, everything works properly.
Breakfast was included in the price. But it was rare. Let's say no breakfast. The only thing we didn't like.

Verified reviewThe digital keys were easy to use, the staff were good and accessible. Breakfast was good-fairly standard continental. Home from home feeling. The location was very good and I would visit again.
The first room allocated, had an overpowering and all pervasive smell of drains. I contacted the hotel team and their response was prompt, polite and professional. Unfortunately the second room allocated had a very whiffy bathroom but the rest of the room was great and fresh as a rose! So decided to just keep the bathroom door closed. Maybe try for a room on second or third floor next time?

The room was not like pictured in the booking. It was quite a bit smaller. Also breakfast was pretty bad...fruit was rotten and no yogurt left even though we got there an hour before it closing down. Pretty marginal selection.

Verified reviewWe chose a double room for our 1 night stay. We were really only there for the night. The room was on the small size if we had liked to spend more time up but for us it was absolutely perfect. It was super quiet yet down town, the bed was really comfortable. I enjoyed the vibe of the place, the decor. Everything is super well thought and very tastefully executed. I highly recommend booking at Gogaille.

Poor breakfast, dust on headboard of bed, marks on quilt cover, did take photo, but don't feel the need to print them unless I need to unless asked to (found a clean one and changed it myself) No milk for making drinks, (went and bought some)

Verified reviewThankfully we only stayed one night. The whole hotel has been beautifully redecorated and looks lovely.
Where do I begin? The keyless entry system is terrible - it simply did not work for us - we scanned the QR code and were then supposed to be sent an SMS code but I never received it. We had to call the customer service line *every* single time we wanted to gain entry into our rooms. The issue was only finally resolved 5 minutes before our departure (for one of the rooms). We were not told we had to check in twice given we had booked 2 rooms and I was only sent one check in link. We were not sent our room numbers. The first room smelled like drains and mould, thankfully there was another room available but not on the same floor so we each had to stay in a room with one of our kids. The loo roll ran out; there was barely any shower gel; the milk and pastries ran out at breakfast and we had to call the customer service line to get them to find the lady who was supposed to be supervising the breakfast room. A/c cannot be changed. On one occasion someone entered our room - they said they were from the hotel. My husband, looking for the breakfast room, was granted access (upon calling customer service) to “Salon 4” thinking it might have been a communal area for breakfast. In fact Salon 4 was someone’s room and they were asleep!! The customer service never ask your name to check if you are allowed to enter that room - obviously a huge security risk! The breakfast room is hard to find - access to it is through a barricaded stairwell and through a laundry area filled with trolleys with towels and sheets - it is not obvious it will lead to the breakfast area. Maybe one has more luck taking the elevator. The breakfast room had a bowl on the floor right in the middle of the doorway from the laundry area, collecting dirty water from a leak in the ceiling. There are barely enough seats for everyone to sit and not enough dishes - they ask customers to load their dirty breakfast dishes into the dishwasher.
