Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom0n Booking.com the address clearly shows Place de la Republique but actually it isn't there and there are two further addresses and the site used in the summer is a good trek from Place de la Republique. This is stated to be 300m or 400m depending on where you look but i would have said nearer 500m unless you know the shortcut provided once you find the site. What complicates matters further is that an e mail is sent out asking if you would prefer the summer site or the main site when actually there is no main site open and in any case parking is only at the summer site. Conclusion - messaging not thought through and completely muddled. The addresses need to be absolutely clear otherwise you end up like me walking the streets looking for the various addresses and I did so with a sore foot which did not improve my mood. The website is also inaccurate in stating that deluxe rooms come with a balcony. Not so and indeed on the FAQ there is one that asks about balconies which clearly states that none of the rooms have balconies. The website also lists free wifi associated with the room description but it does not work in the rooms - only in reception. This is very poor for a hotel supposedly of this quality.
This is a lovely hotel - well one of the two hotels that form part of the site - once you can find it. I On the restaurant the menu is somewhat limited and if you don't want frogs legs or crustaceans very limited. I cannot eat crustaceans so I was rather disappointed especially so when the amuse bouche was a crustacean mousse from which I could not benefit. My partner, however, was in heaven with that and the langoustine and lobster more expensive menu. I on the other hand was left with an interesting sounding vegetarian starter option "Petits Légumes Croquants au Piment d’Espelette 19.00€ Mimosa d Œufs de Caille" and the description suggests something crispy. On arrival it was anything but. It was merely Salad Russe - Russian Salad by any other name - and lacking any piment d'Espelette. For those unaware Russian salad is cold boiled carrots, potatoes and peas (in this case frozen) in a mayonnaise-like sauce and certainly not worth €19.00. My only main course option was "Traditionnelle Volaille de la Dombes à la crème 32.00€ Riz de Camargue Cuit à l Etuvé" which was actually chicken cooked in the style of George Blanc from Bourg en Bresse and not particularly from Les Dombes. The sauce was pleasant as was the rice but the chicken was dry, almost certainly cooked twice, and very chewy - not exactly falling off the bone. Having said all that it was a fairly pleasant stay in a very nice location and but for all the issues above would have given it a much higher rating but one can only speak as one finds. I would risk another stay there warned in advance as I am now.

United KingdomBreakfast first morning at one hotel, the next morning at the other hotel - a bit unclear about what was happening where. Constant music outside - morning until night at the hotel with pool. Completely unnecessary, just restrict it to one small area like the bar.
Location in the town

United KingdomWish I had noticed the air conditioning a night earlier but then I did arrive at 1.30 in the morning!
In an ideal location in the centre of Chatillon with free parking close by. Beautiful medieval building with beams, sloping floor etc. Very comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and coped with my gluten free needs at breakfast very well as I can't have the lovely French bread and croissants so they provided fruit salad, omelette and gluten free bread. I arrived very late due to delayed flight but they had given me the code to get in and my key was waiting for me. Can't fault this hotel.

United KingdomOur room was rather overheated - it was early May and we think the heating may still have been on. Opening the window wasn't really an option as the room overlooked the road and, although not a lot, there was some heavy traffic going past intermittently during the night.
We visited La Tour many years ago and decided it was time for a re-visit. There have been changes, but the hotel is still full of charm with an excellent team of staff. The decor is quirky (in a nice way) with lots of antiques and decorative items. The restaurant is on the pricey side (particularly the wine) but the quality excellent and it was nice to treat ourselves after a day on the road. La Tour is also well situated - Chatillon is only a small town but it is a charming place to stroll around and the hotel is right in the centre.

United KingdomNot good value for money. Whilst we enjoyed our stay we thought the cost of the room and meal was about 15 % too high.

NetherlandsArriving at 20:15 hrs to a dark, empty, unstaffed hotel. Finding my room key on the wall. No garden/pool/restaurant in the building Having to walk 300 meters across town for garden/pool/restaurant. Room was old/dated and did not smell fresh This is not at all a set up for 150 euros!
