Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

United KingdomBreakfast on our second morning was not as good. There seemed to be some items missing from the previous morning. The tables also were not adequately prepared for the guests which was not very inviting.
We had stayed here many years ago and were looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. We were very kindly upgraded to a beautiful spacious bedroom with a small balcony. Dinner in the restaurant on the open terrace was very good. The Sisteron Lamb was delicious and also the perfumed carpaccio dessert. The reception staff were so kind and helpful with recommendations. We can’t thank enough the lovely young lady who personally drove us down to meet our taxi to the airport which was unable to reach us in time due to extreme weather which had caused a very bad traffic jam. Thank you again! If you are looking for a tranquil stay away from the crowds we would definitely recommend Chateau Le Cagnard. There are also a couple of nice friendly restaurants in the village square with a good menu choice.

Beautiful room up in the attics with spectacular views over Nice. Very private and romantic in a stunning location in a medieval village perched high on the hill. Delicious breakfast and dinner on a lovely balcony overlooking the wonderful views. Very attentive and charming staff.

United States of AmericaSome of the hotel could be updated. The breakfast was average and very repetitive. Asked for fried eggs and was told no eggs were left only to have an outside tour be served eggs.
Property location was amazing. The hotel was very nice.

CanadaAfter pickup on arrival by car, you are basically on your own to figure out how to access the hilltop village from your parking below the village.
The view was lovely - over the valley below and beyond to the Mediterranean. The location was difficult to access as expected. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The room was a little quirky in design and layout but comfortable overall. The breakfast was excellent. Sitting out on the terrace for breakfast, and dinner if you have it, is well worth it if the weather cooperates. Although the indoor pool is small it does have multiple massage jets.

United KingdomWow, what a location. Thankfully we did our research and had read other reviews that we needed to park outside the village as you'd only every get the smallest of cars to the hotel. A quick phone call when we parked up (cemetery car park is free 24hrs) and they sent a nice chap (Eric?) down to pick us up in a little Fiat 500. The walk up/down to the car which I did in the evening is hard work. The restaurant/food was amazing, really enjoyed that and a stunning view of the sea and beyond. The next morning we ventured further up into the medieval village and up the castle, really worth doing. They have a tiny pool (indoors technically) but has jets/waterfalls and a resistance pool allowing you to swim in it. The hotel itself was stunning and multi-levelled, our room was across the road, when we entered the hotel we'd need to go up two different stairs to exit the street above, it reminds you how steep the location is. Staff were amazing, made us feel very welcome, special thanks to Fiona who went the extra mile to ensure wedding anniversary was extra special. The room was stunning, ours actually had two air-con units, which we really appreciated as it was close to 40c that day. Very comfortable bed, secure (we slept with balcony doors open). Will stay again!

JapanSince the chateau is on the hill, access to hotel is not so easy, the hotel will give us a ride to the town though. But this is the place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere around the hotel and small town so it is not a big deal.
Historic, antique and chic chateau with great view. Friendly stuff and nostalgic atmosphere. The place to stay longer not for a day like us.

FranceThey should probably make it clear that the "pool" is more of a plunge pool, and not a pool for swimming laps. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay.
A wonderful, charming hotel in this beautiful medieval village. Every room has its one name and character. The staff are all super nice and friendly—from the moment they picked us up from the parking lot to the moment we left. There’s a very small resistance pool which is more for cooling off in as a plunge pool (with a glass of rosé) than for swimming—it was well appreciated on a hot day. I would’ve loved to stay longer. I also wish I’d known about their popular restaurant — with a rooftop that opens when the weather allows—beforehand so I could’ve booked. It has great reviews but it was unfortunately full on the night we stayed. But one of the staff recommended a restaurant in the square in front of the chateau, which was lovely.

United KingdomWould have given the hotel a 10/10 if it weren't for the fact that we were given the room next to the alley where most staff came to smoke on their breaks, I guess this is France so not much to say but as a non-smoker this took away the golden edge of the hotel for me. Besides that we had the most amazing stay :)
Excellent gem of a hotel. Charming old town with beautiful views. The hotel has been carefully renovated and rooms are superb, very sizeable and comfy beds.

United States of AmericaThis village is tricky to get to if you're elderly or disabled. The village is so charming and beautiful but there is no parking at the facility. You need to know that parking is below the property and it is a short hike up to the village. The property staff was on the spot to help with luggage and picking us up from lower parking lot. There was no wait time and they did ALL of the heavy lifting to make the trip up the mountain worth the "climb". Any able bodied person can walk to the hotel with ease. I just wouldn't recommend this property to disabled travelers.
The property was beautiful and ancient! They did a great job of preserving its antiquity and still making it modern and comfortable. Rooms were big and very comfortable and the views were breathtaking!

United States of AmericaNot a complaint, but there are better and worse ways to solve the access from town issue. Website is clear about three parking lots where taxi or Uber can drop you. As rookies we chose the one that required quite a hike up the hill with luggage. Call ahead and they can tell you the better options, and even pick you up at the drop point.
Gorgeous location and extremely cool facility with tons of history behind it. The view from our balcony — coastline and ocean, mountains on the side — was to die for. Being situated in the medieval village, which was fun to explore, was a bonus. Staff: Incredibly friendly and helpful. Honestly, everything was just about perfect.
