A few items that would have been useful notably an oven glove, more cleaning products/fresh sponges and hand soap in the bathrooms. But we bought all these from the nearby excellent supermarket no problem. The garden isn’t very private as there is a large gap with no hedge by the driveway so everyone looks in as they drive in and out. Not secure for young children or those with special needs as the gap leads straight to the road. BUT!! None of the above detracted from the overall property and surroundings and wonderful hosts.

A lovely spacious 3 bed gite with access to a huge shared swimming pool. Very comfortable beds and living areas. Excellent washing machine, dishwasher and fridge. Lots of storage throughout the property. Albine and her family were really helpful and friendly hosts, even giving us a bottle of wine as we left - thank you!! Absolutely stunning grounds to walk around including forest trails for walking, running or cycling. Nearby lakes for a fun day out for all the family. Plenty of small towns around to enjoy exploring and then Tours is not far away for a proper city day out. A very peaceful location overall - we would love to return again. We loved our stay! The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was big and comfortable and the pool area was clean and relaxing. The surrounding area is very quiet, so we slept incredibly well. It's a good base to explore towns further east and west of Hommes. For example, Saumur, Chinon and Amboise were all reachable by car within 40-50 minutes. We enjoyed the coffee & breakfast too! We'd love to visit again 😃

There is nothing to dislike!

We had an absolutely lovely stay at this fascinating place. Our room was spacious and well furnished, with a minibar, bathroom with both shower and bathtub, and a very comfortable double bed. The windows had mosquito nets which we have found very few places to offer. One of us used the pool despite inclement weather, and the family immediately helped her with towels. The breakfast was excellent. And of course - the lady running the chateaux is an absolute star. She had bought gluten free bread for me for breakfast! She was also extremely helpful and had many suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We did a day trip to Chateaux Chenonceaux with a lunch stop i Tours.

The chateau is exceptionally beautiful ( both the buildings and the grounds). Our room was large and comfortable. We also enjoyed the big pool.

With warm feelings and big smiles, we just left, al waving to the hosts, the grounds of Vieux chateau de Hommes. Enchanted by the beauty of the place and the enchanting ruins of the park, where you can let your imagination run wild. An inspiring place where you spontaneously feel like painting or getting rid of your writer's block. Every morning it was a delight to chat over a sumptuous breakfast and get advice from the lady of the house. An incredibly kind woman who does everything for her guests. For instance, she called her son for other flea market addresses we had not found ourselves. She also called the second-hand shop a few towns away to enquire about opening hours and whether they sold what we were looking for, and after visiting the shop, she looked at our finds with us and enjoyed them as much as we did. A lovely place where we had a week to stay, the peace, space and nature are beautiful. Lovely sunbeds by the pool inviting you to stay on them all day. With beautiful views of the castle and in the adjacent meadow grazing horses. (Which makes an equestrian's heart beat faster). All facilities work and everything has been thought of. From towel dryer to hairdryer, Jacuzzi, large pool and fan over the bed with timer function. Everything works and is very clean. The area is beautiful and every ten kilometres there is a chateau to visit. We would definitely love to come back. Merci! Cécile & Julian

The most lovely and accommodating host. Peaceful area. Jacuzzi and pool area are amazing. Chateau is stunning with high quality finishes all round. Fantastic breakfast. Beautiful walks through the forest around the plot. Supermarket just 5 minutes away. The host surprised us with some wine while we watched the rugby - small touches go a far away, so thank you :)

Everything was perfect.

This is an exceptional place to stay. Our hosts (Albina and Hubert) were so friendly but not intrusive. The breakfast was terrific. To stay in a chateau was a real treat. Everything has been considered to ensure you have a great stay. The pool is really clean and the grounds are so big and quiet. A very relaxing place to stay. We extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights.

Having to leave!

The breakfast was wonderful and the breakfast room was exceptional. The location is perfect for visiting the sights of the Loire and the old chateau of Hommes is the remnants of one of those chateaux. So interesting! A lovely swimming pool to relax in before retiring. Very comfortable room and beautifully quiet. Albine and Hubert were perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. If we come back to the Loire we'd certainly stay again and it absolutely made a perfect visit to the region.

We were caught out that the villages near the property had no restaurants open. We had to travel quite a way to find a meal. There was quite a bit of personal and cleaning clutter left lying around that detracted a bit for us. Nothing major just could do with a bit of attention.

Charming historic property with comfy beds, high quality sheets and well laid out bathroom. A very interesting property and lovely well maintained grounds. Hosts are exceptionally nice and helpful people.
