The facility was extremely well located, in easy walking distance to the cathedral, and into the older parts of Chartres. We were warmly received by the manager who helped us to our apartment and showed us around. The apartment itself was delightful, airy, with a view of the gardens.

I found the bed rather hard and uncomfortable. Directions how to walk from the railway station would have been helpful for us.

Unusual, quiet, helpful owner/concierge. Clean, had everything we needed. Loved the garden, great location.

I really have nothing bad to say! Our stay was comfortable, enjoyable and RELAXING.. after the chaos of Paris... a welcome break!

Marthe was waiting for us with our keys, a friendly smile and lots of information on what to do in Chartres. The French have a flair for hospitality, and Marthe did not disappoint.

In the old car- low center of Chartre near the cathedral we were welcomed very friendly by Marthe in the beautiful old bishop's house (14th century) that is renovated and tastefully decorated in every detail. We had breakfast in the calm and peaceful garden. We got perfect instructions on how to reach the house and we could park the car in the private parking. Everything was looked after with personal care and flexibility.

Beautiful property and room, family suite provided lots of room for us and really made for a comfortable stay. Valerie and Marthe were so helpful and friendly. It’s the perfect location too. We couldn’t stay anywhere else in Chartres!

Not a single thing, it was absolutely perfect!

We had the most incredible experience, ending our summer holiday on a high! Maison Ailleurs was everything we could have hoped for and more, exquisitely decorated with true attention to detail, most comfortable and incredibly clean. It was truly magical staying in such an historical property, which has been beautifully renovated without losing its authentic character. Our hostesses Valerie and Marthe were an absolute dream! Thoughtful, helpful - making sure that the four of us (incl. 2 young kids) were looked after, including an upgrade to the stunning family room (1 bedroom apartment), such a delightful surprise! Highly recommend - if you’re looking for a luxurious and relaxing place to stay at the heart of Chartres, with all highlights at walking distance! And definitely opt-in for a delicious breakfast, which you can enjoy in the beautiful garden - where we also spent time to relax and enjoy some wine and cheese, after a day of exploring the town! Huge thank you to Valerie and Marthe for making our stay so remarkable!

be prepared for narrow, steep road access high kerbs. The satnav took us on a bad route in last few hundred metres so check first!

This is the most amazing gem of a place in the magical town of Chartres. Beautiful renovation of a medieval house. Perfectly charming. Incredibly generous hosts. Within easy walking distance of all the grace of Chartres.

Leaving.....we could have stayed longer and if we knew how wonderful the place was we would have altered our time spent else where in France !!

The host were exceptional, text message prior to arrival to let us know we could check in early, the surprise French chocolate bar hanging on the door for my birthday, the location as so close to the Cathedral and main shopping precinct/restaurants etc... and the attention to detail in the room with the presentation of the breakfast was so French xxxxxxx

Oh Wow, Idyllic French period town house apartment. Lots of space in the rooms which are a 5 minute walk from the Cathedral and restaurants. Super helpful people with lots of communications. Wonderful decor and space looking over quant garden.

Location, the building, the apartment, service were all top notch! Felt like we were staying at a relative’s home - hospitality was 11/10!! Staff goes out do their way to assist, even after check out. Superb!!!
