Decor could do with an update

Excellent location! Very eccentric building on the sea front near the old part of town and only ten minutes drive to the ferry terminal. Large room and comfortable bed.

We had hoped for a room with a view, but were given one with little outlook by mistake. (18)

The hotel was near St Malo, but off the beaten track in St Servan, and very handy for the Ferry terminal. As the hotel only serves breakfast, it was near a large number of seaside restaurants, near a beech and interesting walks. (42)

Curtains didn’t quite meet so it was quite light. No actual ‘bar’ to sit in BUT nearly all the rooms have a delightful balcony with views and drinks are served in the room.

The room was fantastic. Beautiful quality furnishings and fittings. Opulent and very fitting to the whole hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. Very accommodating and friendly.

    Nothing,

Lovely big room on ground floor with huge bed. Also very good sized bathroom. Think this might have been disabled room as toilet higher than normal, seat in shower etc. Table and chairs outside room. Well worth asking for this downstairs room - couldn't fault it. Breakfast best we had in France. Very near ferry port. Beach over the road. No restaurant but quite a few nearby.

Continental breakfast felt a little bit pricey though we did take it up as convenient. 3 flights of stairs to the family room wasn't an issue for us but worth being aware of if you have mobility issues.

Incredibly convenient for the Ferry port. Great family suite with separate bedrooms and lovely views of the harbour

No tea coffee facilities in the room, however the manager did loan us a kettle. Only 4 parking spaces on site is a slight disadvantage when using own car.

The size and comfort of the bed was exceptional. The location near restaurants and 20 mins to the old town was excellent and it was really quite at night. The Manager/Concierge was very helpful.

The oft-experienced trade-off between peace & quiet and proximity to key tourist features applies. Walk to the Old Town may be too far for some but there are some car parks there if you are early enough. There are decent restaurants near to the hotel.

There was limited on site parking (4 places). There was a free public parking lot just outside the hotel grounds which was quite busy and could be a problem in high season. However I think this would apply to most of the hotels in this popular area.

We had a lovely spacious 1st floor room with separate entrance, a massive walk in rain shower with double sink, separate loo, huge comfortable bed and balcony overlooking St Servan marina. It was just what I had hoped for. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a different area of St Malo (plus it's only a short walk from the ferry terminal). The room also has double-glazed french windows, so it's very peaceful at night - perfect :-) I would also like to send a big 'merci' to Benoit, who was so helpful when I reported my Kindle as lost/stolen from a local restaurant. Sadly, when he called the restaurant they didn't have it, but he really went the extra mile to try to locate it! A very kind person!

What a lovely place to stay - we booked a room with a balcony overlooking the harbour which was very welcome after our long drive to St. Malo. This was worth the extra money as after a lovely meal we sat on our balcony with a welcome bottle of wine. The staff were so friendly and we had the added bonus of free car parking in the hotel as parking spaces can be a nightmare to find in St. Malo. Great location for catching the ferry also.

The wifi was sporadic and complicated to log in to. Also, there were large patches of bleached areas on the carpet. This was superficial and didn't affect our comfort, but it did detract.

Benoit was extremely nice and very helpful. The location of the property is wonderful; close enough to all the sites of San Malo without being in the overcrowded and overtouristed "intra muros" area. Breakfast was a nice range of tasty options. Parking (usually plentiful) is directly in front of the hotel which is convenient. Close to nice restaurants and across from a harbor which is a lovely view.

These are just a few very minor criticisms: As we've often found in other hotels, the lighting in the bedroom was not evenly distributed. With little natural light, you sometimes had to move to another part of the room in order to read comfortably or to pack a suitcase. The price of breakfast was above average, so it wouldn't be worth paying for if all you want is a cup of coffee and a croissant. We were pleased that the hotel advertised its desire to help protect the environment by providing organic soap and asking us not to request fresh towels unnecessarily. HOWEVER, the towels and soaps were replaced every day, which we felt was unnecessary and wasteful. The WC in our room (no.2) was curiously close to the shower which meant that avoiding a wet floor was sometimes a bit tricky!

The hotel is a charming, quirky 17th century building with a delightful view across the bay towards the old, walled town of St Malo and the sunset. The room and its bathroom were very clean and the bed was comfortable. For breakfast, there was an excellent choice of good quality food. The neighbourhood is quiet with a good number of restaurants and there is plenty of room to park near the hotel.
