Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CroatiaI don't have anything bad to report.
The position is great, just at the Champs-Élysées, near the Franklin metro station.

AustraliaThere was nothing that we didn't like but be mindful in Paris that some lifts in older buildings are tiny and may only fit one person if you are travelling with big bags. The lift at the Mathis is small but worked well. We were on the fourth floor and only had small luggage so it was fine but for less agile and people with large bags its something to be mindful of.
The Hotel Mathis is in a great location just behind the Champs Elysee and close to supermarkets, chemists, and general shopping. The location also has a plethora of diverse dining options and is close to Clemenceau Champs Elysee Motro. Walking distance to any attractions including Arc de Triumph and Place Du Concorde. Our room was larger than some we have had in Paris and was well equipped with a very comfortable king size bed, bathroom with walk in shower and a separate toilet. There was a small fridge and coffee machine and complimentary bottled water. Staff were helpful and engaging.

United States of AmericaI drink coffee in the morning, but do not drink it black. Many hotels provide cream. There was not a grocery store nearby so I never bought it for myself. My morning coffee that I look forward to was not pleasant. I also did not like the bathroom. There was no wash cloth. There was a large container of body wash and shampoo in the shower, but just a tiny little container of hair conditioner on the shelf above the sink. A larger container of hair conditioner located in the shower would be nice. The tub has very high sides and no grab bar. It's not safe for older people or people with poor balance. I don't remember seeing a phone in the room. It's important to be able to contact the reception desk.
The breakfast was excellent and was one of the things that made my stay at Hotel Matthis a good experience. I liked the location - I always look for a hotel within short distance to a Metro line. But I also liked the character of the neighborhood and having several restaurants close by. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I forgot his name but thank you for making my stay in Paris a fantastic one :) Room is clean and nice, also there’s a lift which was a plus point because I was carrying really heavy Luggages!

United KingdomRoom a little warm, air conditioning did not seem to work so we opened large windows onto street for air. Bathroom a little small. Only minor issues in the grand scheme of things.
Hotel staff were very friendly and courteous. The hotel is superbly well located a short walk from metro and Champs Elysees. We did not do breakfast preferring to eat out as there are cafes, bars, boulangeries and supermarkets nearby. Room and bed comfortable, quiet, relaxing.

United KingdomThe lift is as very small, but added to the character of the building. It would have been good to have at least one English speaking channel. Other than this everything was perfect.
The location was amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The room was extremely comfortable and we slept really well. Will definitely stay here again soon :))

United States of AmericaThe junior suite room didn’t have a shower head but just a hand held one. It made it difficult to wash my hair or stand in tub as water would go everywhere . I think it should have a actually shower head on top and perhaps a curtain
Leo is lovely 😊. Staff are very comforting and it feels safe to be at this hotel .

SingaporeWe would have rated the hotel a perfect score had it not been an unfortunate incident which occurred when we were leaving the hotel lobby for our transport to CDG Terminal 1. My daughter stood up and accidentally knocked over a light fixture and it shattered. Leon explained that the light was expensive and I immediately gave him my credit card to pay for the damage. Thank goodness my daughter wasn’t hurt by the broken pieces but according to Leon, similar incident(s) had happened with other hotel guests before. He asked us to check with our insurance if the damage could be covered. When I checked my email upon landing home, the hotel had emailed me about the damage extent to which I had to pay 50% of the price; some 250 euros. On hindsight, the hotel should really secure the lamp properly so that it would not slip off easily and cut the other guests, especially the young and old ones, when it shatters!
My daughter and I enjoyed staying at Hotel Mathis. Their staff, Leon and Shanon treated us very well. Leon would help us with tickets bookings to Opera Garnier, Chateau Chantilly as well as Palace of Fontainebleau. He would always made it a point to ask us if everything was going well. As for Shanon, it’s always great to see her whenever we return to the hotel after a day of sightseeing and shopping. She has the most amazing smile and that really warmed the cockles of our hearts. The cleaning staff did a good job of keeping the room tidy and we felt safe leaving our things in the room. The hotel’s location is superb. We could navigate our way using goggle maps easily to Notre Dame, Tracedero Square, 31 Rue Cambon, Opera Garnier, Lourve Museum, Printemps, Alexandria III bridge, Arc de Triomphe etc. The neighbourhood is very safe as it’s nearby the French President working quarters, the US embassy and other embassies. There were police patrol around. As for eateries, there are many good restaurants around if. In face, we ate at most of them. There are convenient shops around too but you need to walk for about 10 min. Uber drivers would always tell us we were staying in a good location. Safety is of utmost importance to us.

United KingdomTemperature is difficult to control from the room and was overly hot at first, but desk staff made adjustments to restore comfort. Breakfast extra is “formule” at €24. Seems a very poor deal although you can buy individual items. There is another cafe next door and a baker across the street.
Size and layout of room was just right. Not massive, but certainly not cramped. Stylishly and conveniently fitted out. It’s a quiet street and windows keep out most noise. Beds comfy. Shower and bathroom excellent. Beautiful Belle Epoque lift. Very convenient for shops, theatre, restaurants and metro
