Thin walls, tv broken , smelly

No elevator, for a disabled wife. No petit dejeuner. I have stayed at the Modern's on several previous occasions, and this last stay was the worst. Staff was nice enough, but lack of an elevator and no petit dejeuners were new.

The room was not confortable at all. Poor decoration, very noisy. The bathroom was sticking, very humid. I did not sleep at all. Did not feel secure as I couldn’t lock the door from inside

The staff was very friendly. My pets were welcome which very appreciate. The hotel was well situated with very closed restaurants and train station. Nice neighbour

Pictures are massively misleading. Minuscule bedroom and smelly bathrooms. Loud traffic and too short curtains make it an unpleasant night of sleep waken up as soon as day rises.

One could hear other clients yelling loudly in their rooms. The clean towels smelled like cigarettes. The hallways smelled like cigarettes and marijuana. The shower was dirty with mildew.

Very bad condition of the room and bathroom. Dusty flooring. Bathroom smelly and mouldy. Everything in the room needs refurbishment!!! I will never stay in this hotel again!

Floor in my room was uneven and moved as I walked across it. No tea or coffee ect in the room. Shower was filthy and the sink blocked. The cupboard door fell by itself during the night as it was just propped against the unit. 3 of the lights in the room didn't work.

The walls are paper thin and I could hear conversations and the TV very clearly from other rooms. As well as having some very creaky doors with a traditional style lock (a regular key), and creaky/echoey floorboards, this made for a very noisy hotel so very little sleep was obtainable. In the bathroom, the shower hole and sink really needed some drain unblocker - these both got clogged very quickly and as the sink was tiny I was unable to wait for the hot tap to heat up as it would fill the basin too quick. The bathroom never came with hand soap. The overall quality of the place definitely needed some TLC. It's very old, falling apart at the wall in places as well as some things like the door locking could do with upgrading. As well as adding some sound proofing to the walls and floor (carpet on the hallway stairs would help). Generally, it's not terrible, it felt clean enough, it just didn't appear that way because the place is so run down. As a solo traveller who doesn't expect anything luxurious, this was okay for a few nights only. It's just a shame that even with my earbuds I got very little sleep - because of this, I would not stay here again.

As a solo guest, the room size was just about okay (it was small but I'm only 5, 3") as well as it being in a great location. Very close to some cafes, shops and easy access to the Metro and Train Station. The bathroom came with sachets of body gel and hair gel. Out of the 2 full days, one of the days my bedding was changed to fresh linen. There's free wifi. The gentlemen who checked me in was polite enough.

The main receptionist did not understand Booking, or how to use credit cards, and two times tried to charge us again, despite us having paid in advance. The bannister on the stair wall was falling off and could cause a serious accident. No lift to the fifth floor. All equipment in the room (fan, lights, mirror, sink, window) broken. Horrible smell in the bathroom. In the morning, before checkout time, the reception sent up the next guest, a drunk old man, to try to get us out of the room sooner. Price astronomical for what is basically an old junk room, managed by a man who doesn't understand what a hotel is, in conditions that do not feel safe.

One of the staff members seemed competent. The bed was comfortable enough. It was not too noisy.

No elevator available and difficult to carry luggage up very tight stair case with limited hand rail. Shower/bathroom very small. Floor buckling/not even. Maybe water underneath. Appears renovations in progress.

We were very disappointed dirty expensive we checked out already yesterday and spend the last night in another hotel. Very disappointed that booking has such a hotel on his website. Sooo expensive for 210 euro for one room with 1 bed which is only 1 meter 60. Never ever again

The room was dirty - like, really dirty - the shower didn't work, the toilet didn't flush properly. There was an awkwardly placed, and seemingly pointless, TV shelf attached to the wall, which was in the way if you wished to move around the room (from the bed to the bathroom, for example). There was no elevator in the property. The man on reception was not particularly welcoming or friendly, and certainly not helpful. He didn't even bat an eyelid when I checked out despite having another night booked.

The location was fine, close to Bastille metro station and within walking distance of the Latin Quarter, Notre Dame etc.
