Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe apartment was lovely but we thought that the bathroom would benefit from some maintenance or even updating, the sink didn't look too safely attached to the wall and the shower handset and rainfall head need some attention, having said that, generally it was perfectly useable.
The owners met us at the property by arrangement prior to the normal check in time, so that we could leave our bags on arrival due to our very early flight. At the 'official' check in time, the owner met us again to show us up to the apartment, and because we had arrived during a heatwave, Pippa quickly brought us extra electric fans to try and keep the temperature down a little, which was greatly appreciated. The apartment is in a great location, just off the main square, so only a two minute stroll to a wide selection of restaurants and shops, including a small supermarket to obtain supplies. The railway station, Canal de Midi and the Medieval City is also within walking distance although the walk to the Medieval City can get steep. The good news is the if you do have mobility issues, there is a novelty little road train close by that will transport you up to the old City main entrance, for 7 Euros per person including the return trip. Entry into the Medieval City is free of charge and well worth a visit, there is a charge however if you wish to enter the actual Castle within the city walls.

United KingdomNothing.
A great location, beautiful apartment which was really well designed. Ample space and everything we needed to self cater. There was real attention to detail around what we might need, including the essentials for cooking, so no need to purchase. It was very clean and excellently appointed throughout.

United KingdomLocation was very close to the square with lots going on - bars restaurants shops, all On the doorstep. And a 20 min walk to the old town. A bit of bustle in the street but not so as to detract from the overall experience.

FranceI can't think of anything I would have changed.
The apartment was absolutely charming and very comfortable. We loved the neighborhood. While the apartment was a 20-minute walk from the old city of Carcassonne, it was a minute away from a lovely square with loads of restaurant.

United KingdomA very turn of the (last) century French chic building. The property is about 50m from Place Carnot, the buzzing square at the centre of the old town. It's only a 10min walk to the old bridge for great views of the magic. We think living in the old town is better - it's more real France than the fairy tale end of town! And all this above a vintner who offers excellent wine tasting!

Very happy with the accommodation which is ideally located, only a very short walk to everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a washing machine. Parking is no problem as it is only about 380m away and it is cheap. The medieval old city is only a 20min walk from the apartment.

United KingdomTo The owners of Rue Barbes: I telephoned your son, Tristram, about our stay. I called from Cardiff because there was something particular that we discussed. This was about our trip to South West France and not the apartment, which I needed to raise. I will not say any more here. VBP

United KingdomA really tiny thing: I always get myself some flowers on arrival if I'm staying somewhere. Maybe a vase in with the rest of the kit?
Useful guidance was given on getting from the airport and accessing the keys after a delayed arrival. A follow up message the next day says much about the hosts. The flat was very clean, simply but comfortably furnished and wonderfully bright. The bed, which looked almost new, was very comfortable indeed and the bedlinen really good quality. The kitchen was well equipped. It was a delightful home from home for a week and in a really good central position. Alexander could not have been more attentive and thoughtful.

United KingdomA lot of noise from the street outside throughout the night; people in neighbouring flats were shouting. This may just have been because of the exceptionally warm weather, windows open etc

United KingdomWifi not very good on the top floor, half the time I used phone data for Internet. An optional choice of lightweight summer duvet would be better for warm days.
High quality clean apartment on the 3rd floor which is on the top floor. Welcome sweet snacks in the kitchen alongside coffee pods and variety of good quality tea bags. Tristan very helpful in good places to visit and eat out. Tristan also very knowledgeable in choosing wines for the right food and occasions. Location fantastic, close to the town square where the main eateries are, very short walk from airport shuttle stops, bus routes, railway station, canal and shopping. Close walking distance to visit medieval city for Europe largest medieval castle the highlight of Carcassonne, the main purpose for visiting.

United KingdomCan hear some noise from the street outside because of the original windows (as 99% of buildings there do), bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper
Perfect location just off the main square in the Old Town, plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants bakeries to choose from. Lovely bottle of wine on arrival which was a nice touch. Balcony was a nice spot to sit with a drink and people watch. Exactly as pictured.
