How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThere was nothing to dislike- we loved every moment. Like others, we were treated to a tasting of the Michel Gonet Champagne - nothing else compared! Do not miss this family champagne house, and make sure you stay at least a couple of nights

Verified reviewStay included breakfast each morning. Cold meats. cheeses, pastries, Baggets, coffee and juices. Also a free champagne tasting was included. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Location is perfect right in the heart on the avenue.
Rooms only have pedestal fans and no air conditioning. Hot water was not working on our first morning but we know why this occurred.

Verified reviewLovely room in a lovely mansion in an excellent location.
Only negative was the lack of air conditioning but we appreciated the fan in the room and it did cool down at night.

Verified reviewLa Villa had a lovely, relaxing garden for wine tasting; a charming breakfast room with period furnishings making it seem like you were having breakfast in a Jane Austen novel- but with better cheese and croissants- and a unique conversion for the ensuite bathroom facility with a striking stone slab for the in-room shower. While there is no air conditioning due to the villa’s heritage status, the room cooled in the evening and we could sleep well with a fan, even in 30+ temps. It also had an excellent location with surprisingly convenient street parking. The knowledge and unfussy service was provided by a friendly staff.

Verified reviewFantastic location in the middle of Avenue de Champagne , beautiful house , only 5 rooms so feels very intimate with several beautiful areas to relax & a lovely shady garden , very good breakfast & left over champagne from tastings left for guests a bonus !
A small fridge in the room would have been useful to keep water cold as it was a very hot weekend .

Verified reviewThe staff were extremely helpful and polite. The location was perfect. Beautiful property. Delicious and typical French breakfast.
No Airconditioning and being on the 3rd floor was very warm. A fan was not very helpful. Not knowing what floor we were booked on. I have knee issues and was unaware that I was required 3 flights to reach our room. Shower was very small but we managed.

Verified reviewGreat staff, great location and a beautiful chateau. Leaving left over champagne in the fridge for guests to enjoy is a nice touch.
We would have liked two pillows each. Some fresh strawberries, red berries or cut fruit in the breakfast spread would improve it.

Verified reviewWe loved the location along Champagne Avenue which made it so easy to wonder and check out the different Champagne houses. The Inn building was historic and well maintained and clean. The Continental breakfast was nice, as well as the complementary champagne tasting. Anna was wonderful with descriptions of the house champagnes as well as recommendations for dining in the area and helped us with our driving route through the vineyards one afternoon. My only suggestion is to neaten up the outdoor space as there were nice tables and chairs mixed with shoddy wooden ones. The outdoor space has the potential to be much more appealing and attractive.
The outdoor space could be more appealing.

Verified reviewOur three nights at The Villa were absolutely perfect in may ways. The whole team were very welcoming and the Villa felt very much like a home from home. Breakfast was plentiful - pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt, cold meats and cheeses, fresh juice and cappuccino - much needed after a few glasses of champagne the night before. The Location was perfect within a few minutes walk of the major champagne houses and no more then a 10 minute amble into Epernay itself.
