    Braintree is a very historic town with glimpses of a...

    Braintree is a very historic town with glimpses of a medieval past in its narrow lanes around the town centre. It has suffered from a decline after its main local industry closed down. It could be a lovely place if there was investment in it because a number of traditional buildings still stand, and it has a good sized centre for an upgrade to take place. There's a nice local park near Coggeshall Road and the station. Sadly, there's an ugly multistorey car park near the run down shopping area with a few cafes and low priced shops. Very sad to see it so neglected. Maybe local councillors could take a look at towns like Ludlow or Chichester to see how they've protected the historic heart of their home towns. Happy to return again though. Good luck Braintree people.

    Its only ground and first floor so easy to get up to rooms...

    Its only ground and first floor so easy to get up to rooms even if the lift was in use. Staff were all so helpful with directions, bus details, ordering taxis. They couldn't do enough for us and we noticed they were as good to all the visitors, and callers on the phone.

    Never having visited Braintree before, I was pleasantly...

    Never having visited Braintree before, I was pleasantly surprised to find it interesting to walk round, spacious yet with shopping alleys to wander down, and with friendly service in pubs and shops. The only downside was what appeared to be a distinct shortage of places besides The White Hart to go for an evening meal.

    A pleasant, pedestrian friendly town centre offering plenty...

    A pleasant, pedestrian friendly town centre offering plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. It has a fine Town Hall, library and museum telling of Braintree's past. A little way out of town is the Freeport Shopping Village and the town is conveniently placed to visit the neighbouring towns of Colchester and Chelmsford.

    Very friendly & accommodating staff.

    Very friendly & accommodating staff. Food fresh & good choice. Delicious cooked breakfast - very good value. Rooms accessed via stairs - no lift - difficult for guests with mobility problems. We are booking another stay end of November to visit the Christmas Market & enjoy the facilities again.

    Braintree town has a good selection of cafe’s and pubs but is sadly lacking in retail outlets and late night entertainment. It’s a good central position for exploring the area but you’ll definitely need a car because the local bus service isn’t very regular,

    Apartment is nicer than staying in a hotel room, you have an all in one lounge,kitchen/diner and separate bedroom and bathroom. Sky tv basic package is a nice touch makes it a touch above standard tv in a hotel. Washing machine and dishwasher. Few bits of tea and chocolates drink in the cupboard and a box of breakfast oats which I like. Bottle beer left no for me but it was nice. Bed comfortable but a bit low .

    Lovely quiet location in a well furnished and presented apartment. All the amenities you could expect for this type of property. Close to Braintree and the A120 in a village. When contacting the host I got a fast and helpful response.
