Castletown is perfect for touring the northern part of scotland. The scenery is just beautiful, lot of little places to visit. Just perfect. Not much in Castletown itself apart from the hotel, garage, and a few streets of housing. However, the small town of Thurso is only a few minutes away by car, and John O' Groats, and Dunnett beach are also close by. Castletown itself is quite small, but literally on the outskirts of Thurso. While we were there, their one Morrisons had closed for a total refurbishment, so if you were looking for groceries or the like, you'd have to go a bit further. The breakfast buffet was amazing, especially for a quiet winter season. I booked a single room but got upgraded to a beautiful double room. Only the fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy and ran quite long after using the bathroom. The Wi-Fi worked very well, great TV with many channels and a very cosy bed. Very friendly lady at check in. I am glad I stayed there. When I arrived earlier in the day, I was able to stretch my legs and walk down to the harbor.
