Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomCar park was advertised as free. However parking was full so had to park in public parking at additional cost with no offer of discount.
Breakfast was nice.

United KingdomMisleading information that there was free parking rather than first come first served parking. The website should be updated to say this and give information about the adjacent car park. I had to park there and make several trips up two flights of stairs with luggage, a dog and all the paraphenalia involved.
Breakfast, perfect location near river and town, very comfortable bed, quiet room.

United KingdomBecause the the hotel was quite old the floor of my bedroom sloped a bit so the head of the bed was lower than the foot which made for a very slightly uncomfortable sleep. Otherwise the bed a d the room were excellent.
Excellent breakfast, location very pleasant

United KingdomThe parking, while a real bonus for a hotel so close to town, does require a bit of shuffling around as double-parking is de rigeur.
Ideal position for a short walk into the centre of town or for riverside walks. The rooms was spotless and, while it's on old building with all the quirks that brings, comfortable enough. Very nice lounge area for work / relaxing and a good breakfast too.

United KingdomOur room was on the second floor which was a little difficult with a suitcase. Our bedroom window didn't open.
The location was great - we could walk to town. There was parking at the property which was a bonus. Breakfast was very tasty and service was friendly and efficient. We were kindly allowed to leave our car there until 1pm on the day we checked out. A 1pm check in is unusual and was very welcome.

United KingdomThe bathroom was a bit tight - sat on the toilet your knees were in danger of being hit by the door. The two beds seemed to be different widths and I had the narrower of the two. I’m by no means a large person but turning over in the night could feel a little precarious! Otherwise a comfy room.
We were greeted very nicely and the parking arrangements sorted out with no fuss. Breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly. It was very near the town centre and with a very good Indian restaurant just opposite.

United KingdomRooms were small, showers were corner showers with no room to spread elbows out properly. The window in our room didn't lift up as it was painted shut, but the top 1 came down that's when we found cobwebs, thick cobwebs at the top of the window. When we arrived back in the evening around 10ish staff were just leaving and ushered us in, even though we wanted 10 minutes to smoke, and we were told not to walk across the floor through reception and the bar area to the stairs, we got told to use the stairs opposite the main entrance as there is a flat downstairs and they didn't want us disturbing them. Staff were ok, but the young girl on reception didn't know the way to the armoury, just sat there eating chips going errrr ummmm, and was going to google it, walked away quite shocked, we may be old enough to be her parents or even grandparents but we know how to use google maps just thought she might have known the way.
Breakfast was lovely, but beans or hash browns didn't come with a full breakfast. Place isn't in a bad location

United KingdomThe outside door key (or the lock itself) was a problem - the night porter had to let me in when I came back from dinner, and he too had trouble with it. Having said that, there was indeed a night porter on the premises, which is not always the case with one of the smaller hotels - and he was very helpful and friendly. The only other thing is that I'd have appreciated an easy chair in the bedroom - the only chair was an upright one at the desk, and after a series of train journeys I'd have liked something to sink into! I do see that space would be a problem, since the room was quite small - fine for one, but would have been a bit of a squeeze for two.
A lovely spot for walking around Shrewsbury. A handsome building, spotlessly decorated. A comfortable bed, in a room with a desk and chair as well as a flat-screen TV (though I didn't actually make use of that). Very friendly, kind and accommodating staff - I had 'time to kill' after handing in my key, and no one made me feel at all unwelcome for hanging on in the lounge (which was very comfortable). Breakfast was nice - good coffee, and the pleasant surprise of a kipper as an alternative to the usual Full English (which I'll try out next time),
