The room was comfortable and good value for money but the toilet seat was damaged and generally the hotel was in need of some investment.

The room! Poor value. Very small and noisy - above the hotel bar where loud music was playing. No other room available. Not a standard twin as booked. The other standard twin booked turned out to be a double with an extra bed in it. Not acceptable and I would not return.

Service good in dining room and food was good too.

The ground floor public areas are still in good shape following the refurbishment in 2015, but the bedrooms, while clean and comfortable, are becoming a little 'tired'.

Convenient for Glamis Castle and Transport Extravaganza - the main purpose of our trip. Good, old fashioned (dog-friendly) hotel. All staff, following the example set by the owner/manager David, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We dined at the hotel both evenings and the food was excellent - fresh ingredients, expertly cooked and good portions. Breakfast was great too !

The hotel is in need of renovation. It looks vey tired. There were a number of things in the room that did not work properly. We had noise from other rooms and a continual hum from some sort of generator (maybe) which kept me awake.

Excellent staff in the restaurant. The food was good. Wi-Fi in the room.

Bedroom 10 is above the tap room of the pub and the Juke box is very loud and didn't gget turned off till we complained at 0100am.

The hotel was lovely oldie worldie. You could imagine carriages stopping to change horses in the olden days. The staff were really lovely and helpful. Food:You must try the Fishcakes I could have eaten these as a Main instead of a starter. All the food is well cooked and comes on warm plates. The food is plentiful. The neighbours are friendly and everyone speaks which is great. The area is serviced by 3 local convenience stores. There is a Fish and Chip shop and a cafe in the square across the road.

There was no lift, so those with mobility problems might find things difficult; and the hotel had no car park of its own. Cars had to be parked either on the street outside (no parking restrictions) on in a free public car park across the road.

We chose the Alyth Hotel specifically because it was located very close to where we were attending a family wedding. We found the welcome was warm, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good. Our room was much larger than expected, which was a bonus because this gave us more space to get ourselves dressed and organised for the wedding etc. The hotel's general ambience was warm and welcoming and it was situated across the road from a small river, which was rather nice.

We found the room (at the front of the building) a little too warm and a bit noisy (constant rushing water of the Alyth Burn and early morning traffic - but then, we are used to the quiet of the Highlands)

Very friendly, efficient and helpful staff, comfy room (with free wi-fi), excellent food and good location (dog-friendly too). Adequate street parking (or the square opposite). The ground floor restaurant & bar has been extensively (and tastefully) restored since the flood of 2015.

The bedroom was very tired with the wallpaper peeling off in a number of areas. The curtain on the corner window was not sufficiently wide enough to shut out the daylight leaving a 100 mm gap either side. This meant that light streamed in through the gaps at 4am. Despite asking if anything could be done with this curtain the following morning nothing was actually done. The very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom ran for over 1/2 hour when you switched on the light making it impossible to put the light on without waking anyone sleeping. As a result of these problems we checked out on the second day and found alternative accommodation, but we're still asked to pay for two nights.
