Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. We loved everything nothing to fault. Had everything and more. We think the host should charge more.
Location was right at the heart of everything. The cottage was spotless. The host Matt really has thought of everything. Lots of added extras within the cottage.

An outside tap/hose to wash our dog would have been handy.
Amelie Cottage was beautifully appointed, very comfortable, with all you need for a short (or even long!) stay. It has modern fittings and fixtures, but still retains classical cottage-like charm. Our dog absolutely loved the garden, and we enjoyed it several times per day, during our stay. There’s a lot of “dog friendly” accommodation in Beaumaris, but seeming very few that offer a garden that is both private/enclosed AND generous in size. It’s not clear from the pictures - but the cottage has two enclosed/private gardens: one small paved (slate) yard, and one proper, medium-sized garden (grass), situated just to the rear of the property. Both have seating areas. The property is extremely well-situated, Beaumaris high street (with shops/pubs/restaurants) is less than 2 mins walk away, whilst the seafront/pier can be reached within 5 mins walk. We were made aware that there might be some street parking available (as it’s winter), but we opted to park at the nearby Beaumaris Green (£6/day or £30/week), as we’ve parked there during previous stays in Beaumaris, and feel comfortable there.

Perfect! All the little extras made such a difference. Everything was great! The house was cosy and comfortable. The garden was fab. I was lucky to be joined by a little red squirrel foraging for walnuts from the tree next door. Great for dogs! Parking down the road close to the house. Close to all amenities. Oh and the bread at central bakery is amazing!

Parking could have been an issue. I think we were lucky as we managed to park on the road about 50 yards away both nights. It would have been a bit of a walk parking down near the front.
The location of the cottage was ideal. Close enough to Main Street for a short walk but far enough away for noise etc…. The cottage was small but cosy and as a base was perfect.

There’s honestly nothing not to like.
The property is everything you could wish of for a perfect break, everything is in walking distance to the town, easy parking, just a great location.
