Decor was a bit tired, no toiletries besides a bar of soap, limited hot water but nothing we couldn't cope with.

If you wanted the all inclusive experience you'd go and stay on one of the fancy hotels on the seafront. If you want a comfy bed and a convenient base for exploring the area, this is ideal. Kent's Cavern is just over the road, Torquay seafront and Babbacombe are walkable or an easy bus ride. The host was friendly and helpful with tips about the local area.

The hot water turnt off at approx 11-12 at night. So you need to shower early.

Really liked the location as it was easy to access the coastal walks. Also not too far from seafront, local amenities, restaurants and ferry depot.

No aircon or fan in room was too hot the floor in shower area had a wet patch and stain on floor

There wasn't any breakfast available and nothing close by to get one. Crossing the main road to get a bus was a bit hazadous as well. Also there were no beaches nearby that were suitable for children

Hotel is a little dated in appearance but is over 150 years old so who cares

The location was ideal for us - although Torquay is hilly, we didnt mind walking in and out of town (20 mins each way, uphill slog on way back!) or short bus ride. also only 10 mins walk to Antsey Cove, or 15 mins to Babbacombe beach. Even leaving the window open at night due to heat, it was a quiet location. Room was large, fridge was a bonus to keep drinks cool.

The only thing I could fault is the sealing around the inside of the shower needs replacing but it was a clean shower.

Information booklet could do with a little update and maybe to look more presentable. Room was a nice size, however walls did appear a little dirty with paper coming off. A little freshening up and a lick of paint would go along way.

There was coffee, milk, kettle, and hair dryer provided which was great at no additional cost. The shower was epic, loved it, nice and hot and it had one of those big shower heads that feels like rainfall. Area was nice and quiet with small co op and breakfast place, and also a pub only a minutes walk away. Upon arrival the Manager Roy was quite pleasant, and shown us up to our room.

I could only get the window open a touch and so the room could get quite hot at times when the sun was shining. A fan in the room would be useful.

I stayed in Room 14 which was quite large and had a very comfortable double bed! The bathroom had a great shower with lots of hot water from 6.30am onwards. There was a small fridge in the room, which was very handy! There was lots of information in the reception area to help you make the most of your holiday and Roy was usually around if you had any questions. Roy and his family made me feel very welcome, and went above and beyond during my stay in their hotel.

They do not provide cleaning service during the stay, on top of that the guests are requested to take out the rubbish themselves. The room wasn't clean enough - sheets, toilet room.

The area is posh and quite, although very far from the centre. The host indeed indulged my request for a quiet room.

Good value what I paid for. The room was decent and a good size. Shower was decent. Room had a fridge. The location was great. Near some shops and cafes to eat. Nice place Wellswood. Owner was chatting, friendly and approachable.

Mostly nit picking, as such good value. Breakfast was not provided and the nearest cafe (Me & Mrs Jones) expensive and unpleasantly unfriendly. (Like a school headmistress.) Location is half-way between Torquay and Babbacombe and it's tough walking the hills. The no. 22 bus saved me! Do not rely on taxis to arrive at short notice, like I did, to catch trains or coaches. Difficult to fill the kettle with such a small sink.

6ft wide double bed was large and super comfortable and I loved the bedding. Very clean, fresh and unperfumed by nasty fabric softener. Room (no. 11) was large and had all I needed. I am very used to small single rooms in Guest Houses. Ample supply of tea bags! (Very unusual.) When I booked this was one of the, if not the cheapest, option in Torquay in May. Very good value for money. Ensuite bathroom larger than most in this kind of Guest House. Room was fresh and clean. The friendly owner was very helpful after I foolishly left my bag with money, cards, keys, phone etc on a coach, due to being knackered from the lengthy 6hr journey. And when I could not find a taxi available to get to my coach back to London, he helped again.
