Room 4 not much space between toilet and bath. Every time got out of the shower to dry knocked the toilet roll of the holder so little room

The reception on check-in seemed a little cool to begin with.

Beautiful building, luxurious without being pretentious. The room was nicely decorated, the bed extremely comfortable and we appreciated the two armchairs in the room. Our room was upgraded, which was a nice bonus.

Room got too hot as radiator on through the night, the heating was turned off in the morning? Should be other way round.

The views, the interior, bar staff. Beautiful manor, with original sash windows, very large rooms, fantastic views. Breakfast was good.

Couldn't get an appointment for the spa during our stay. But I still enjoyed the hotel.

Always a lovely welcome, the rooms are warm and comfortable, staff are very friendly, nothing too much trouble, would love to visit again.

The bacon was slightly overcooked but flavour was good and possibly an extra sausage could have been added when beans and mushrooms were not selected.

Good variety for breakfast with full English and continental. Staff were friendly and helpful. Evening meal was good with excellent chips.

Things which could improve a good to excellent rating. The hotel could offer a shuttle taxi. We arrived by train. No taxi's in Appleby. The walk was 15 minutes , country lane,no pathway; not safe to walk at dusk. Only stairs to room; difficult with mobility issues. Consider a stairlift? The meals were excellent but for scrambled egg ; couldn't eat as texture was like mousse with more cream than eggs.I will ensure I ask the ingredients beforehand as I did mention to staff; they suggested I should have checked I hope these can be suggestions for improvements, constructive improvements not dislikes.

Spa facilities were good. Great having a limited number of people within time slots. The hotel was comfortable, relaxing and the restaurant dining was excellent. The bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed and armchairs. Fluffy towels and water in room. Quiet room with a view. Staff offered to help with luggage.

It was really confusing booking the spa when not booking it all together as an overnight package. It would be so much better and easier if the spa was bookable online to see availability etc.

The spa was absolutely beautiful. Absoulte hidden gem. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. We even got a free upgrade on our room, which was fantastic.

Room in external lodge- bathrooms need updating looking rather tired. Wish hotels wouldn't tightly tuck in duvet!! You just then have to go around and tuck bottom sheet back in!
