I ended up staying in three different rooms during my stay due to the leak, and they all had the same problems of a weaker shower, warm rooms without adjustable heating (had to keep windows open) and the toilet pipes would make noises when they were used elsewhere. You can hear outside your room but I got used to the noise. Otherwise, everything else was very good.

The staff were excellent, my initial room sprung a leak in the ceiling and they arranged for a different room straightaway. Food was good and every room had a private bathroom. Location and car park was very convenient.

The heating was broken and going at full strength yet when we said it was way too warm in the room the only response was "well then open the window it is an old building". The shower was also extremely weak.

if you are looking for an old fashioned inn this is the one for you! it has a cozy atmosphere and great food at really decent prices. Right in front is the lake so once you step out it you have a beautiful view!

Hotel itself is a little outdated for someone of my age (24) but if you look past the 'old' decor it is a lovely little b&b, would definitely return!

Food menu was great and appealing! Also very very reasonably priced! Bed was really comfortable. Plenty of spaces for car parking and the staff were all very nice and eager to help :) Easy to find, and the view from the front of the hotel is lovely.

This hotel really needs an uplift. It is certainly not welcoming from the outside, dreary and appearing poorly maintained. We found the water pressure shocking, taking half an hour to fill a bath sufficient to get in and the shower little more than a dribble. The dining and bar areas are also uninviting and expect "sticky" tables.

Good sized rooms, pleasant staff. Great value food.

The window in our bedroom could not be closed and showed a gap of several centimetres. As a solution, somebody from the hotel staff pushed a towel in the gap. The bathroom was nasty and the shower was full of pubic hair. The floor style ran off, leaving Cabinet and desk completely skewed. Breakfast was also very poor. We wouldn’t stay here again.

The pictures on line were deceiving! The building was tired and in need of upgrading, ceilings were water damaged and collapsing in places, windows were falling apart, carpets in need of a good clean or replaced, lick of paint to freshen the place up! Strong smell of stale beer in the bars area which was a little off putting! Wasn't really worth the price currently but with a bit of work it could be a really nice place!

The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was nice with plenty variety.

No heating after eleven at night and didn’t come on again until six in the morning. Electric heater didn’t work and the hot water was far from hot... seriously disappointed this trip.. receptionist just offered to get it looked at.. literally spent £10 an hour for the privilege of a cold, tired, second rate room.... not even enough sugar in the tea making facilities for a cuppa!

With only having old, single glazed windows, the room was badly affected by traffic noise which did not bother me as I sleep through anything, but could be a problem for the lighter sleeper. The en suite bathroom appeared fairly new and spotless however, the walls in the bedroom had some visible signs of damp lurking under the paint and could be off putting for some.

The bedroom was poor - there was a fan unit attached to the outside of our bedroom wall which was on all through the night and it was noisy and kept us awake and when you wake up tired it affects your whole day - not good when you only have the weekend! It also has some stairs just inside the bedroom door and you have to remember to switch the light on on the wall outside the room so that you can see to go down them as the room light switch is at the bottom of the stairs. I feel both of these things should have been highlighted in the advertising on your site - the photos used certainly don't reflect this room and perhaps in another room it would have been a different experience. In addition one of the bedside lights didn't work, the shower isn't powerful enough to wash your hair and the whole place smells musty and needs to be refreshed.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Bathroom was subject to masticator noise, shower needed attention to sealing and non existent 'soap' tray During night, sleep was disturbed by constant noise from Beer Cooler and Air conditioning fan - very noisy and pronounced - staff would be well aware of these and this would affect at least 5 rooms. Further a pump actuated a couple of times during the night, which I assumed was a drainage pump, connected to the collector for the individual masticators.

Interior now a bit tired and dated. Smokers gather outside and their smoke does circulate and find its way through open bedroom windows.

Walking distance to Helensburgh town centre. Friendly staff are its greatest asset. Effective Wi Fi.
