There is nothing i didn't like and i can't fault this property.

Excellent breakfast with a good variety of choices. The location was good, just a 10/15 minute walk to the Ciy centre.

The room was spotless and bright. It was wider than I expected. Also, the bathrooms were renovated and clean. The staff were very kind and friendly. If I return to York, I would stay here without hesitation.

Good quality produce used in cooked breakfast. Fresh fruit, juice, cereal, yogurt, cold meats. Couldn’t fault it. In addition I am Celiac and they provided Gluten Free bread.

The club chair in the room required urgent attention and a mattress protector would have finished off a very clean and fresh bed

The stairs up to our room in the attic were very steep and narrow and difficult to negotiate with luggage. Personally, I didn't like the metal bars at the head of the bed as this made it impossible to sit up in bed comfortably.

Ascot house is a lovely old building. The breakfast was very good and we liked being able to walk into the centre whilst leaving our car in their car park. Great shower too..

There is a beautiful lounge area which wasn’t really used - I think we would have spent some time there if there had been tea and coffee available.

We loved the character of the property and the grand and rich decor which made it special and unique. The facilities were beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean and the beds were large and extremely comfortable. There was a good choice of breakfast and it was all delicious!

We were in a ground floor room adjacent to the main front door, so we could hear other guests that were standing outside smoking and talking late at night.

The room and bathroom were very clean and the breakfast was very good. We were able to park at the rear of the property.

The breakfast was exceptionally good. Gluten free bread and sausages offered. Lovely pot of tea, and any eggs... really nice fruit selection. All really nice quality.

Nothing, everything exceeded our expectations

Lovely victorian features with all the modern amenities. The bed was super comfy, the owner and staff very friendly and the breakfast one of the best I had in a while. Free parking which was hard to come by at other hotels. Very close walk to the old town(about 15 minutes). Would highly recommend

The bathroom were both spacious and clean with a full range of toiletries and the bedroom was wonderful, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and it was easy to see why they have awards for it. Ascot House is located within easy walking distance of the centre.

Nothing. My only comment - and it’s small and personal - I would’ve preferred coffee mugs as opposed to little cups in the room and at breakfast. Coffee at breakfast could’ve been a little stronger, but again, this is purely a personal preference.

The house itself is beautiful. The owner’s son gave us a very warm welcome the night we arrived, and the owner and the rest of the staff were so friendly and helpful when we met them the next morning at breakfast. The room was comfortable and the shower was amazing! Breakfast too was amazing. Our dog was given a lovely warm welcome too.

When we arrived, the host had to lock our luggage as the guests prior to us had neglected to return their key to what was now our room. It did feel strange with others having the key to our room, but the host arranged to collect the key back from them and waited to let us in.

Lovely place, and the host was gracious. The breakfast was good (although the coffee was a bit weak for us stiff drinkers who generally prefer espresso). Beds were comfortable and we all slept well. Conveniently to a small convenience store.
