The breakfast good very good but a slightly pricey, for half a haggis, black pudding, Clootie dumpling circle and a kids sized glass of fresh juice … I found someone else’s hair clip on the carpet, a lot of noise from other rooms for doors closing, we ordered a taxi and the hotel booked it and they had booked it for the next day rather than what we had asked this resulted in us being late for our show. Paying for parking was expensive.

The communal rooms were lovely, the gentleman who served us dinner and breakfast was professional and to a high standard, even made sure that are deserts were out in time for a taxi that was meant to be booked.

The only slight disappointment was the breakfast, sausages weren't great, toast was burned, apart from this it was great

Lovely grand hotel, very luxurious, Nice room, I booked a single room but ended up with a double. Great woodland walk just over the road. The food in the bistro was very nice and good value for money

    Sausages:)

Not overly keen on the sausages, but the rest was lovely. Grounds were lovely for a walk and the library/bar room absolutely gorgeous.

Excellent wedding venue, strange room allocation made our stay very expensive.

We booked late and could only get two single rooms, which were considerably more expensive than one double. On one or two occasions before our stay we contacted the hotel to see whether we could get a double room instead. We were told every time that hotel was fully booked. On arrival, we discovered that one of the rooms was a double, so we did not need the other. Why we were required to book two rooms in the first place, wasting a hundred or so pounds, remains a mystery.

We were part of a wedding party. Perfect location for a wedding, especially given covid restrictions. Very well managed.

I felt Balbirnie House did not offer the best value for money. For what I paid I would have expected an on-site gym or pool. Also the toilet seat in the bathroom was broken.

Lovely house with great atmosphere. Friendly amd accommodating staff.

Small things can mean the difference between a good experience and a great one The bathroom was a generous size but had no place at the sink to hang a towel or place personal items.I was surprised not to be given complementary items eg hand or body lotion. Again our superior room was generously sized but with very little hanging space since the cupboard had to house an ironing board, iron and electric fan. This same cupboard was rather dusty and had not been cleaned in some time but the room itself was cleaned regularly.

The young staff were unfailingly helpful and cheerful. The food was of a good quality and well cooked. The menu was quite extensive but fairly predictable The public rooms are very comfortable with plenty of choice as to where to sit and relax. The grounds are extensive and afforded us with great choice for walking our dog. The term dog friendly really did apply here but again a small criticism as it lacked outside bins to deposit dog poo bags.

Have to say though extremely unhappy at having to pay £10 overnight parking when staying at the hotel. Afternoon tea wasn't as much as I would expect. Service wasn't the best either as had to keep asking for tea/ refills etc. In the room where we had afternoon tea there was a constant drip of water from the ceiling, not what you'd expect from this standard of hotel.

    I didn't have breakfast.
