A fine place to stay near Oxford with regular buses nearby to travel into town.

An historic building in a quiet village on the outskirts of Oxford. A good restaurant and bar and happy atmosphere. Great breakfast.

Shower had a shower curtain rather than door but was in the attic space so don't really think you could fit much else.

Helpful staff. Great breakfast choice. We ate in the restaurant and food was very nice.

    Nothing!

Lovely quaint pub with traditional snug areas and open fires as well as modern dining annex. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed, and a huge bathroom, all beautifully presented. Access via narrow winding stairs didn’t bother us, in fact added to the overall ambiance - although hubby had to learn to duck through the doorways. The restaurant was brilliant - both for breakfast and other meals - and with great coffee.

Nothing to complain about really. Husband was not very impressed with the breakfast.

Lovely dinner. the rooms are a little hard to access, with narrow stairs but this was stated in the website, from what I recall. would ask for a more accessible room if I was staying there again. Friendly staff. Good selection of non-alcohol beers available.

    Nothing to say!

We had a very relaxing stay - perfect stop over on the outskirts of Oxford. The rooms were large and quiet, and the beds very comfortable so we had a wonderful night's sleep. The staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly. The hotel had a private carpark and excellent bus connections to Oxford.

    Great Service and Great Location

The one small issue we encountered with our stay was that, being used to sleeping in a king sized bed, we found sleeping in a double bed slightly uncomfortable/cramped. I would add this did not detract from our stay as we would be more than happy to stay here again in the future whenever we visit the area and are more than happy to recommend staying here.

We decided to stay at The Bear and Ragged Staff for the first time as we wanted to spend a few days in Oxford as my wife had not visited the area before. We were both very pleased with our choice of staying here as the service we received was generally excellent throughout our stay and the food/meals we had were first class. The staff were very attentive and keen to do whatever they could to make sure our stay was a pleasant one.The location is also ideal for being a good base to be able to explore Oxford and the surrounding area. Be aware that parking in Oxford is expensive so we would recommend using the local 'park and ride' service at Seacourt which is great value, £5.00 for the day, and offers frequent services. If you like shopping there is a Designer Outlet Village at Bicester, about 20 minutes away, which is well worth visiting.

During dinner, there was no substitute for items the restaurant didn’t have despite offering a substitute at lunch. Very small issue and the only downer on what would have been a perfect stay. Would benefit from having a Sunday menu in the rooms too alongside all the other menus No dog poop bins or Atleast a guide of local bin to walk to

Very cosy and spacious room Polite and friendly staff A good amount of complementary coffees/hot chocolate and tea Breakfast was lovely Good amount of area for dogs

    Breakfast was slow

Beds were comfy - the main manager on duty was fantastic. Serving staff (possible new person) could have been slightly more knowledgable. Food was lovely, however some items weren't available due to delivery not having arrived. Lovely pub, lovely village, would revisit again if in the area.

Room was good but doorways into bedroom and bathroom very low due to preservation of original beams and doors. Although fascinating my husband kept banging his head despite trying to be careful!

Good choice of breakfasts and able to choose as many as you like ! Very accommodating staff and pub has fascinating history with many original features .
