Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

the room was quite compact as was the bathroom. I would have expected something a little larger for the price.
Room was clean and comfortable.Friendly staff, easy to check in and check out. Good location, we walked there from the station and local bus stops are close by as well.

The shower rooms are not very convenient to use.

The only thing is that the toilet facilities are small and were far from the room. I know that I booked for a shared bathroom but it would have been good to know in advance it was one and a half flights of stairs away, it would be a worry for someone with mobility issues who might not be phased by climbing up to the room once a day fully ready, but could struggle at night or when carrying toiletries.
The guesthouse is very nice. All the staff were extremely friendly and genuine. I think you can always tell when hotel staff are treated well and I hope I'm right in believing it's reflected in the service! Had a great rapport with them and they are a major part of what I enjoyed about staying here. The room was spotless. I especially liked that they provided oat milk on the coffee tray in the room, I had never seen that before and it is great for lactose sensitive people like me. The bed was comfy and the room was warm.

We'd have preferred 10.30am checkout. 10am on a Sunday felt a bit pressured.
Very helpful, pleasant staff. Clean, tidy, and uncluttered with relaxing colour schemes. Close to Uni, Station and High Street. Easy access to plugs for charging. Grateful for oat milk option in room and biscuits tasted good. Loved having 2 pillows on each bed - thank you!

Warmly welcomed and served by the staff! Very clean room, toilet and kitchen, reasonable price, good wifi and location to city center. Highly recommended and planning to reuse this comfortable & friendly accommodation in the beloved city!

Sound proofing between rooms on the top floor needs to be rectified. The room I stayed in had very creaky floor boards, which can easily be fixed - the person below me got a little irate with me walking around my room and banged the wall or ceiling a couple of times.
Have stayed here before on a few occasions. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Parking might be a struggle in summer - but I was able to find a space no problem. RingGo app is used all over town making paying for parking easy in the nearby carpark.
Warm welcome from lovely staff and much appreciated complimentary coffee. . Good wifi to continue with work/business. Comfy double bed.

The bathroom was shared with the other rooms on the floor, a bit awkward to access in the middle of the night, and was not right next door to my room; open to hallway with separate rooms for shower, bath/toilet and toilet, but not private/shared bathroom as I had anticipated. But facilities were clean and functional.
Incredibly helpful and friendly reception from staff. Helpful with instructions, places to visit in Exeter, stored my luggage, etc. Location was great for accessing city center, historic sights, restaurants, etc. Room did not come with breakfast, but coffee and tea and electric kettle in the room. The hotel was interested in sustainability - a plus, and included organic peppermint tea and oat-based creamer for hot drinks. It is a nice, no frills, clean, friendly place for a short stay. Most important was the support from staff. I even had help with my luggage up the stairs - important as there is no lift.
