My room was very dated and the shower was shocking.

As a single female the staff made me feel very welcome and opened up the restaurant even though I had a bar meal. I did not feel intimidated at all. My room was of a great size and I slept remarkably well.

No bedside lamps in the room so no way of turning off the lights once in bed. No extractor in the bathroom.

Good breakfast, wide range of products on offer. The hotel is very secluded hence was quiet, no traffic noise etc. Easy access into the country park which had lovely walks and lots of birds to see.

My room was exceptionally cold. Heating didn't seem to be working. It was the first week of December when I visited, so was a pretty cold time of year. There was also a large amount of ladybirds around the window of the room, and crawling on the carpet. Surprisingly as it was December. Also, thought my stay was quite expensive, considering it was room only,in which the heating didnt work. Would of been well priced if breakfast was included and a heater.

Location was beautiful. Hotel is a stunning old building. Bar area was lovely and cosy, with the real fire burning.

Rooms a a little tired, stained carpets although bedding appeared clean. Lots of electric extension cables as rooms are understandably 100’s of years old.

Character of the building. Open fire, chesterfield sofas and lovely forest walk. Don’t expect luxury- it’s a building needing a huge cash injection!

Our bedroom was in need of refurbishment. it was a very large room that seemed to be furnished with items from elsewhere. There was little thought given to the layout. for example the only mirror in the room was so far from a power point that its use during blow drying was impossible

The Victorian public rooms were comfortable. The staff were extremely good.

Our roo was cold a dthe radiator would not heat up. We did not Complain but upon leaving l told the receptionist who stated the system could have been boosted. No mention of this was made clear.

Friendly staff. Our room was too many stairs for my wife so l asked for a change of room. The manager did his best for use, rearranged the schedule of allotted rooms and made our stay more than acceptable.

The numerous stair and corridors to reach our room. Also there was excessive noise in the room next to us indicative of poor soundproofing. The window did not close properly and was not double glazed.

Breakfast & food was great. The location was fantastic. Loved the old fashioned bar area. Parking was also really convenient and readily available. The venue for the 60th birthday function was excellent.

Although the maim building is great, the corridor to the rooms where I stayed smelt a bit musty and looked a little tired - even though the room itself was fine

The building is lovely from the outside and with a large free car park. There is an impressive double height atrium type bar and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The room and the en-suite were a good size. Also, I only had a bar meal but I went for the steak and ale pie which was excellent

The only entrance by road is through a sprawling council estate. The building was in need of repair and modernisation with windows damaged and full of wood worm sadly

There was a wedding during our stay and the staff were more interested in dealing with them rather than the other guests that were staying. We ordered food which took over an hour to be served after us and other guests chased them. Bathroom in our room was tiny but manageable. Didn't really get a welcoming feel to the place.

Historic setting and good value for the price.
